And here it is, the moment we've all been waiting for. The title fight! If we weren't a completely pitiful company that has a crowd in the double digits, this would be our PPV event. But we're not, so it's just another show. Before we get to that of course, we have two weeks of news to sift through.
The only bit of news interesting to me is that perennial favorite of NYCW, The Whistler, was unable to have his contract renewed. S ahame really, because despite his age he was a good fit for the company, and NYCW is my favorite promotion in the game tbh.
Other than that, TCW and SWF's TV shows are holding steady in the ratings department, so SWF still has little to worry about from it's largest rival.
But past that, it's time for the main even- OH GOD DAMNIT
Well, how bad could it be really?
Well Irwin, I'm afraid neither the fans nor anyone else here likes you. I decided to give him a Last Chance warning. His response?
Something tells me by month's end his paycheck will not be on my expense report. But that leaves us with the plan for tonight's show.
After the "dark matches", the first thing is our opening act, where Brooke challenges Irwin to a singles match. This is of course punishment for his behavior this week. So he's going to get
buried. Next, Neonivek, always looking to push it to the limit, has decided to give himself a challenge. He has asked young up and comer Zak Attack to face him in a 5 minute challenge. If Zak can simply last for the amount of time, Neon will admit defeat. Zak manages to just barley stay conscious during the fight, but manages to eek out for the time to reach zero. Neon of course decides fair is fair, and even shakes the hand of the victor. Finally, both Sackhead and Stoner get elaborate entrances to pump up the crowd before the big title fight, and during a long and grueling match, Stoner finally manages to defeat Sackhead, and thus wins the title belt. He rushes into the crowd of cheering fans to celebrate.
And thus we begin. First off, the two dark matches.
So, as far as a dark match goes, these went okish. Certainly could have been better, but I'll take it regardless. Besides, we have REAL matches to worry about! Speaking of which, I think Brooke just issued her challenge to Irwin.
So after that competant challenge, all that's left is for Irwin to get his ass handed to him for my amusement. Is it wrong if I secretly hope he gets injured so I can fire him?
So, a decent match for our level, and Irwin leaves even less liked by the fans. After the match I checked, and his momentum is a solid Zero. People would see him vs David Arquette and expect Arquette to win. And wouldn't complain either.
If you don't get the joke, allow Wrestlecrap to explain.Next was Neonivek's challenge, and I've opened the Dirt Sheet to show how we're scoring what we score.
As you can see we got dinged for two things. First off is pacing. The crowd was really pumped from the last match, and this wasn't a good enough follow up in their eyes. Careful planning can help avoid this, but sometimes things just fall out of place. Something falling flat where it shouldn't have, or a warmup match turning out spectacular. However the big thing to notice is both got dinged for morale. I am finding more and more reasons to kick Irwin to the curb.
Speaking of random chance
One of Neonivek's big problems is his consistency, and tonight it really shined though. His was off his game tonight, and it really hurt the match. However his good nights are what helps, so while it's clear he won't ever be main event material, I can see a long career of Midcard for him at least.
And that went over kinda flat, but it was a handshake. Not like anyone was gonna go home going all "Oh man, did you see that HANDSHAKE! Was off the top man! Pure excitement!" But this does lead us into the final stretch of our show. The Title Belt! And with that, out comes our competitors!
SO yeah... the crowd got more pumped for Sackhead than Stoner. Maybe it's just his menace or whatever, although it does seem that Stoner got dinged for his "Soft Drugs" habit. Weather this means the crowd doesn't like druggies, or he actually showed up high isn't made clear. I like to think the second, because it is more amusing.
So a competent match, but it had problems with length. Anyone else starting to notice a pattern here? Very few of you seem to have the stamina required for long matches which could prove problematic in the future. However, as we are bottom of the barrel, even the worst performances drives our reputation up. That said, what was our final score?
So... not one of our best efforts. Not the worst we've ever done, but definatly not a spectacular show. This ranks near the midpoint of our quality. However there are three things we need to do in order to improve.
1. Get a better ref, he's literally damaging every single match
2. Fire Irwin
3. Either get some high stamina wrestlers to carry the later portions of the shows, or hire a bunch more wrestlers in order to keep the short matches varied.
With that, I am opening up submissions for new workers. This company needs an adrenaline shot to the heart, and maybe YOU can provide that.
