Bekter Hunter (Patrick Hunt)

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

It seems the woman that just left wasn't coming back. You head downtown, ending up in the business district. The skycrapers around you further block the sun as plumes of smoke rise from their windows. Looking for a normal shop however is dangerous as it proves. Not sneaking around and simply walking here may of proved to be a bad option. Especially busy, you find you are quickly being surrounded by at least twenty people. Some have side arms, but all of them carry assortments of bats, pipes, axes, machetes and such. You have no time to enter the hunting shop you find. Even if you did you quickly read the billboard for the four story building and it was on the forth story. You would only trap yourself.

Jane Andrews (Imp)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Taking a mental note of this specific cover next to the park, you survey the scenes. The streets here go off in many directions. You can clearly see the roads going off into the residential district and going into the cell-system of the homes. Block by block until your vision goes against the end of the road with its own building. The three people nearby, observing them, they have seemed to satisfy whatever their urges were. They begin to walk past you, not noticing your existence. It seems, at least to you, they are on patrol. The third one in particular as they move down the streets looking into the buildings windows does indeed show what you believe is a slight bump in the back of his shirt. Though this could be anything from a gun to a canteen to a whiskey bottle in his back pocket. There is no shortage of broken into cars here. Most have their tires shot out, some have blood all inside them and others still are on fire. They seem at least to be more organized then you would of liked. The cars themselves have all lost their tires at the very least. Not to say any of the residential garages haven't been broken into at least. Again the patrol goes by again, they still don't notice you. They have a mission indeed.

Rune (Coolrune206)

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Something in your brain tells you using the "caution, do not use flames around these explodable" objects, is a pretty terrible idea. Fashioning them to be grenades proves difficult, without anyway to set them off without assistance, you would at least need to find some way to make them explode. While a fire could produce the intended result, you are hard pressed to even find matches in the room you are in. Peeking out of your window into the hospital, you find the halls are empty. But the same can not be said for the other rooms. For now you grab the small canisters marked do not use flames, contents under pressure. Again your brain tells you of its fairly sure use of doing this will result in you hurting yourself. Reading the canister which you found in the nearby closet read, "Dermo-plastic" Seems it is a spray-on bandage of sorts. Shaking it, you realize you have at least half the canister. Your pockets are now completely full.

I'm going to use my bedsheet and some medical needles, and another other cloth-like things in the room to fashion a backpack.

Reason with the crowd, if this fails then take off down an alley to lose my would be ambushers then sneak back to the hunting shop.

(( This is the reasoning. ))

" I'm a soldier, if you all want to get out of this before the entire city burns down then come with me, I'll teach you how to use those guns, help you find more and help you to fight your way out. We can work together I'm more useful to you as a soldier then a body. "

Jane is going to:

1)  Determine the approximate time between passes of this 'three person patrol'.  How consistent is the patrol's pattern, are they taking about the same time for each passage in each direction?  Do I appear to be near an end of their route, or near the middle (this would affect timing of when they pass).  Do they usually seem to be looking into the windows of the buildings?  Do they seem more concerned about the building than their other surroundings?  Do they appear to be in any sort of uniform or to have any fear of the area around themselves?

2) Determine my best route to some cars that met my previous requirement.  Consider hiding places on the way to these cars, I am perfectly willing to make this a several stage sneak to get to where I want to be with absolute minimum chance of being seen.  What I am looking for is a cluster of a few cars that clearly don't have a car alarm that can function (a cluster that are already broken into - if the car alarms could go off, they should already be going off, but they are not - thus hopefully can do nothing when I attempt to enter the car).  What I most hope to find are sedan or hatchback type cars, which are very likely to have  in their trunks a spare tire and a jack with a detached crowbar-like, tire-iron-like bar intended to also serve as a handle to that jack.  That crowbar-like handle is what I am primarily after.

My ideal car target is a passenger car with at least one open side door, the dome light not shining, and the hatch back or trunk already widely open - and the car itself silent, dark, and in deep shadow.

3) If, because of the timing of the patrol route, or lack of good places to hide on the way to and from the cars, or lack of shadow around the cars, or anything else seems to make this a 'bad place to try', then I am going to slowly work my way around the park to consider other streets, cars, and possibly patrols around it, paying close attention to the details I'm looking for, anything else that seems potentially problematic, and especially to remaining deeply concealed myself - remaining concealed is my first priority in all of this.

4) If I find a route with adequate hiding places (or if the patrol's timing is long enough I can directly sneak to the cars that appear to meet my standards), I will follow my plan to reach the car(s).  Interrupting my search as needed to remain as concealed and as silent as possible, hiding periodically as needed around the car(s) or under one (if they are not backlit from any direction), I will attempt to get the tire iron from a trunk, and I'll briefly check the car(s) there for anything that catches my eye as being useful.

5) If I check all around the park and have not found a target that matches my standards, I'll make a different plan based on what I have learned from this scouting.

Jane Andrews (Imp)

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

((Before I begin, I hate you))

Taking the patrols into view, you determine you are towards the center if not a bit towards your left on their end of the patrol. Passing through wouldn't be too much of a hassle. Listening to their conversation as they go by, you hear things such as reward money and getting the hottest babes with the money they could spend after all this. Though otherwise they just fantasize about what they will have and not really anything else in particular that is too interesting. From seeing them go side to side so many times however you realize one of them had taken out a walkie talkie after it signaled them with a muffled voice. They were too far away to hear what it said but it sounded female? At least you think. After all this you look amongst the cars, most were broken into, or just broken for that matter, there was quite a few there. As for hiding places, the wreckage in the streets would be best, or going from building to building. If you could find a way to get to the top of the residential buildings you could hop the roofs from how close they are. Though your car is definitely on the ground. While the door wasn't open, the window was already broken into. There was a four-door passenger vehicle. It seems the battery was dead or stolen as nothing was on. The truck already open, you spotted some tossed groceries to the side, someone was trying to go home from shopping. It wasn't completely dark, but it was between another car, the trunk seeming to have been rammed open by the vehicle actually. The plan was almost perfect. Then you hear the walkie talkie again. This time, it close enough. "Yah we got some sort of soldia boy here boss man, what you wanna do?" The leader of this little gang as now revealed thinks, "Capture him, we'll bring him to a merc or something. Gotta be worth something, do it now." An evil smile comes across his face before their patrol seemed to disband for some unknown reason. They went into a nearby building for now, but you couldn't see if they would be coming back out soon or not.

((*Takes deep breath, coughing*))

Bekter Hunter (Patrick Hunt)

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

While attempting to reason with a disgruntled crowd might be a normal, goodie way of doing things. You quickly find out these people are carrying weapons for a reason. One of them pulls out a radio, "Hey Yah we got some sort of soldia boy here boss man, what you wanna do?" Before the man on the other side could even respond you start running towards the alley ways. (1 v 1) They manage to trail you easily enough. It is all well and good to run from one or two people, but you got many eyes looking down many ways. It was hard to lose such people. (3 v 4) Continuing to run ends up with them beginning to catch up with you. They throw a couple things at you, bottles and rocks (5 v 3). You manage to dodge such things, and your breath is beginning to be known. (4 v 6) And they have grabbed at you a couple times. In the end, the alleys run out and you are forced into a dead end. While it is a small area, you are fighting around 14 of the previous 20. Seems you managed to lose some the first time, at least the slowest of them. If you only had water you probably could of been at least a little better off in a longer sprint.

They speak. "Put down your gun and the plunger. Come with us quietly, no one has to get hurt." Your rifle is a bolt-action, while loaded, they would overwhelm you instantly. The three brick walls surrounding you offer no help, and the nearest source of salvation is past them. Will you give up?

Rune (Coolrune206)

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

You fashion a quick pack, it looks pretty stupid and you look pretty stupid. It hangs off you and rather than a backpack, it acts more like a basket or giant pocket using your back and it as a way to store things. It can't store sharp things, or too much heavy or it will rip. But it could do for now.

(part of the problem is I don't know how long turns are, how many minutes pass.  I'm totally happy with my full actions not happening yet, if nothing has changed that just means that you already know what I'm doing the next few turns too)

Jane's actions:

Watch for just a moment, then continue my plan.  Get to my chosen car.  Stand as sheltered by the other car as possible, especially from the viewpoint of that building.  Keep listening, look around occasionally, remind myself to work slow and stay as silent as possible.  Find the spare tire supplies and get the crowbar/jack handle.  Try to find a flashlight if the kit has one.  Quietly check the rest of the car some for other useful tools, particularly a flashlight if the trunk lacked one.  Especially check the glove box, the pockets in the doors (if any), and under the driver's seat.

If my chosen car lacks a crowbar or a flashlight, search the next best car based on my previous standards and where I know people are or were.

Once I have a crowbar and ideally a flashlight, sneak back to my manhole cover.  Remain slow and as silent as possible.  Once there, start to ease that cover open.  I do not want to completely remove it, just lift it off about 90%, and I need to adjust the cover so that it would be possible to close from below if I decide it's safe enough to stay down there.

Jane Andrews (Imp)

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

You sneak over to the car, the glint off the windows make the sun well known at the moment. You move quickly to the car from before and begin to search it. You find no reals supplies, it seems everything was taken or destroyed. But there is a bloodied walkie talkie there. Was it one of the groups or someone else? The little red light on it shows that its battery was alive. Yet it made no sound. Waiting for a moment as you look it over, you drop it in surprise as a voice comes on "Help me please, help me! Somebody!" You hear laughter in the background before the voice stops. The line goes silent again for a moment. Your surprise makes another voice come on. "Little pigs, little pigs let me in." From what you gathered someone found the other half of the walkie talkie, and the line goes dead once more. Moving to the trunk, you lift a small compartment in the trunk. It was very rusting, but there was a crank jack. However propping it into place would be difficult. Moving to another nearby car to quickly search it, you find little there as well but oddly enough, another walkie talkie. Going through the back seat you attempt to get into the trunk that way. What meets you there is a body. His eyes staring at you with fear. The man seems to have been beaten, once he sees you, he begins to struggle again, trying to speak through his gag. For now you are forced to stay low in the suv and make a decision.

Bekter Hunter (Patrick Hunt)

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

They punch you in the face and begin to strip you of your pockets and weapons. They are thorough. Patting you down more afterwards before a hummer comes up. With a .50 cal machinegun on the top of it, you look on in a bit of awe. These weren't some little guys here. This stuff was planned. Having you tied up, they put you in the back seat, a man with a pistol pointed directly at your skull and another to drive. They were both wearing urban camo fatigues. They weren't army. Perhaps mercenaries? You saw fit not to ask this time. They take you to a building downtown. It was a bank. Unloading you, you feel a kick to your ass. "Get moving in." They were telling you to get inside.

Rune (Coolrune206)

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

You pick up some extra bottles. Then there was a loud bang on your door. A man presses his face up against the glass of your doorway. He doesn't say anything, he just waits, looking at you in the room. No real emotion. You can see around his neck a hospital gown. For a long time he stares before looking away, seeming to lose interest.

If the man is bound by rope and I believe I can quickly free him, do so.  Start by telling him to be and stay silent.  If he doesn't cooperate with that, sneak away from the vehicle.  if instead he stops trying to speak, untie first his feet, then his hands, then get out of his sight and sneak away.  I do not want him to know which way I am going and  I expect he can free his mouth once his hands are free.  I'll find another likely cluster of cars to check, but I can't think of any use for him save as a free agent, and a heck of a lot of ways he can mess me up - he already got caught once and he's already at least a little injured.

If he is bound by plastic ties that must be cut or burned free, get out of his sight, then find another vehicle to check - make sure I don't let him see which way I am going.  Do keep watch for a blade, wire cutters, cigarette lighter, even an already broken into car, without a car alarm, but with power - if found, and it's reasonably close to where the man is bound, press the car's cigarrette lighter in and wait for it to pop out.  If nothing has changed and I didn't get very far yet, I will go back and free him, the same order of release as if he had been tied by rope - and tell him before I start, be silent, stay silent.  I am burning the ties from you (show him the vehicle cigarette lighter) and I am going to try not to burn you at all, but hold perfectly still and stay silent!.  And as above, if he doesn't cooperate with me, instantly give up the idea of releasing him.

If he is bound by metal that must be unlocked (handcuffs, leg irons) get out of his sight, then find another vehicle to check - make sure I don't let him see which way I am going.  I'll try to remember where he is, in the weird event I find handcuff/leg iron keys, or massive sheers strong enough and long enough to cut him free AND think it's safe to try and get back to him.

After making one of those decisions, if I successfully get out of his sight, continue my search for crowbar, flashlight (and anything that happens to catch my eye as useful).  If he seems hard to lose, lose him, then continue the search.
