interest check, what kinda format would you guys like to play as a side-tournament?
nu, ru or theme teams
I'd like lower-tier or theme teams as well.
Oh, and for my own doubles team, I did one additional major criterion in addition to the requested rules. All of the selected Pokemon pairs must be in different breeding groups or otherwise unable to breed. It wouldn't really match my chosen theme otherwise, after all.

Pairs:
Yseult/Drystam (Politoed/Toxicroak): The love of two noble frogs, divided between Water 1 and the Human-Like groups. Their forbidden love, barred by Yseult's marriage to the Cornish (Slow)King Mark, also falls prey to the love, respect, and honour all three hold for each other - Mark loves Yseult as his wife and Drystam as his adopted son; Drystam considers Mark his mentor and father in substitute but bears his forbidden love for his father's wife Yseult; and Yseult is torn between her love for both her honoured husband and the finest knight in his service. It is in the juxtaposition of love and hate born in these conflicting feelings that leads to the death of Drystam to treachery and Yseult to her grief. Err, you didn't expect me to go with the happy ending, did you?
Juliet/Romeo (Tentacruel/Jellicent): The love of two jellyfish families torn by strife, divided between the Water 3 and Amorphous groups. Meeting in a chance encounter, the love between the two grew even after one was banished, leading to their inevitable tragic fate as their plans to meet once more went horribly awry. The war between the two families is stopped only by the sacrifice of the two young lovers, forcing them to see the truth in the cost of their pointless and petty feud that has torn the city and their own families asunder.
Niulang/Zhinu (Jirachi/Starmie): The love of the weaver girl, the daughter of the God of the Heavens, and the common cowherder, divided by the common-born Water 3 group and those Legendaries who consort not with common Pokemon, who met through circumstance and sought together to surpass the will of heavens. Unfortunately, their time spent together in mutual joy was such that the weaver girl no longer wove and the cowherder no longer herded his cows, and the God of the Heavens, so angered, drew both up into the heavens as the stars Altair and Vega, and divided the two with the great Heavenly River we call today the Milky Way. Though these two are divided by far more than a gender group, their story is the only one with a happy ending, albeit only after a fashion; in spite of their punishment to be eternally divided, the magpies of the heavens took pity on the tears of the weaver girl and granted their sole wish, and so formed a bridge across the Milky Way on the seventh night of the seventh month, such that the two may meet once more, though only for a single night.
I also wanted to throw in Deirdre/Naoise (Milotic/Gyarados) originally, but awkwardly, both turned out to share the Dragon egg group even though their other Egg Group is different. Oopsie. I may do it regardless if the third pair is thrown out, though. I am a little worried about my tremendous weakness to Electric types, considering five out of six Pokemon have a Water type, as well as anything that blocks Water moves.
