Reserved. Looks fun. Um... Can't you buy a LOT of traits with 20 points? Is that so you can have more customisation? But I could end up with 450 military first turn... Oh the possibilities... Oh and the 1pt a level thing - so one more cost 1, a second one costs 2 more etc?

Place Holder.

(( Would it be possible to play as a species with no home? Or play as a pirate group or something? I can do a planet set up but thought I'd ask. ))

Pirate group would be hard. (Though nothing preventing you from sending out privateers).

As for no home, I suppose I could manipulate the system to work with World ships, and the like with relative ease. You'd have to spend several technologies on those things too, and still be reliant on planets for industry(=raw materials).

Do traits work the way I think they do? As in, most traits taken once, planets etc may be taken 2+ times and cost 1 each time?

Traits can be taken as many times as you like. They stack, though some (Ok, one), does not.

Actually I think I'll bow out I forgot for awhile but now that it's been a couple days and not much has been happening I remember. I don't really have enough patience for play by post. I get all excited but by the time stuff starts happening I tend to no longer care.

Name: Retha Confederation (I think the empire name is supposed to go here)
Description and biography: The Retha Confederation is a rather hierarchical representative democracy (in that the citizenry only chooses provincial governors, which choose sector governors and so forth). Its current priorities are the maintenance of order and economic stability, and the preservation of Rethacal's biosphere and natural resources.
Traits:
Industrious
Prosperous
2 Extra Civilian Techs
2x 20 Command point fleet bonus
4 Extra Military Techs
List of colonies (Just a name suffices, along with it's level)
Rethacal (Capital)
Dulalra (Outpost)
Mesuar (Outpost)
Military tech:
Reactive armour plating
Reinforced superstructure
Efficient laser emitters
Miniaturised fusion reactors
Defensive force screens
Sensor jammers
Civilian tech:
Durable components - given the Confederation's priorities, improving the durability of various components was given a high priority. This has significantly reduced the cost of maintaining many different types of infrastructure, especially the critical systems of the various interplanetary colonies
Fusion reactors
Industrial force fields
List of the fleet:
Rethacal Defense Command - 2 Destroyers
Rethacal Patrol Group - 5 Frigates

Ok why is everyone else putting up a large amount of colonies they aren't paying for?
I BOUGHT my colonies, it's unfair if everyone else just puts some in as a free ride.

At start, and depending on the traits you choose, your empire is probably fairly small. It'll consist of a few planets, probably in the same system, a small fleet, and have basic technologies. A basic empire has 20 customization points, 1 capital planet, 2 Colonial outposts, 2 military and 1 civilian techs and 50 command points worth of fleet.
Given this, who has colonies that they haven't paid for?
