Suddenly a pillow flew in between the two men. Ciera was standing on the bed, shaking slightly with her fists clenched and glaring at them.

"STOP! Just... stop. We'very been in this together, we can't... we can't start attacking each other now. We... we can't. We've ask fought and bled and we... we're companions. So just STOP."

Alec clenched his fist, holding his tongue to listen to Sheila and Ciera before continuing briefly.
: "And I've been trying to say that as well."
: "Maybe he does, maybe his heart is in the right place! But in a position of power like that, it's not good enough. You need to be ahead of the game. All I'm asking for is reassurance that no-one will be kicked to the curb after all this is said and done. Who's to say, after Julius is on the throne, the rest of the Imperials won't decide to execute all us as political enemies?"
: "And on the revenants- sorry Efa- but her sister was both an Imperial Eye and made into one of those things. If I were the Spymaster, I would sure as hell not let the Church repurpose an agent like that. So that leaves two options, either the Spymaster can't handle the Church, or what I think is the more likely option, he's in with the Church."
After that last word, Alec clenches his fist tighter and stays silent.

:"Then let's just kill the spymaster! He at least had a PART in killing Morwen, anyway, and he won't be a problem if he has arrows in his skull."

: "Why can't everyone just get along?"

Candy finally interjected after watching Alec and Leo duke it out. Actually it was kind of fun because they both had great points.

: "Wellllllll I'm actually gonna side with Music Man on this one. Not that I suspect you of any big bad behavior problems Leo, but isn't this all way too sudden?? Like five minutes ago Broccoli wasn't blueblooded but now he is and now we're just gonna swoop in and knock everyone's heads together? Isn't there some better way?"

: "Technically I can't agree with Efa because of Fairy Laws but if I could agree with her I would agree with her."

:"PLUS. There's something I gotta clarify, I don't think you all know what you're talking about: Morwen was never an Imperial Eye, she didn't get turned into one of those things. That thing wasn't the real Morwen it told me itself. They... they killed Morwen, then they made that thing, and then they they made IT the Imperial Eye. And THAT means the spymaster HAD to be in on the process and probably killed Morwen in the first place."

Alec flinched at Efa's explanation.
: "What?! Wait, wait, are you saying that it wasn't a copy of her, but they had to kill her to make it?" Alec's grip loosened, "If that's true, then that cinches it. It was working alongside multiple other Imperial Agents, there's no way that would happen if the Spymaster wasn't purposefully working with the Church."

"All I want is reassurance from Alec that we can trust him. Because my point is that I trust Julius and Grifen, who made this decision. I trust almost everyone here with my life, and I hope they feel the same. But I can't help but wonder if the very second it looks as if things might go badly, if we can trust Alec to stand his ground with us and not take an easier option, whatever that might be."

Leo turned to the topic back to the spymaster.

"Then it's simple. We remove him, the church leaders, and anyone else who is behind all of this."

[Furtuka]

"Everyone stand down!"

"Leo. It's alright, Alec holds a point."

"Look... I know that, you would all have good reason not to hold your faith in me. My actions in the past failed to demonstrate the best judgement, I'll admit that. However it is precisely for that reason that I hope to have a chance to prove myself again. I've realized my own foolishness, and intend to make up for my failings as a friend and ally, and repair the consequences of my past decisions."

"Meeting with Fyra alone was a mistake. We've made that clear now. But we have no other options available as of now. A small band of warriors cannot win against something as large as an empire on their own. And a claim to the throne is nothing without the backing of those with political power."

"It's for that reason we have to turn to these men. We've already alienated whatever remnants of the rebellion still exist, and don't have the resources to raise an army on our own. Fyra and her fellow conspirators are our best bet."

"I'll be honest, I don't fully trust them either. Even if they're trying to bring down the emperor, they're still part of his machine. However, at the very least we have their oaths to the Crown Blade to fall back upon, and many of them seem to hold strong ties to tradition."

"Furthermore... when we met with them, they didn't sound like men seeking to further their own power. They seemed desperate. Desperate to find an alternative solution to the problems that plague this nation. They fear the madness of the emperor. They fear the corruption in the church. They need us as much as we need them. Possibly even more so. And if that assessment turns out to be wrong... I'll fight tooth and nail with all my power against them."

"As for the spymaster... that's a bridge we'll have to cross after this battle. If he's in on things with the church, he'll be treated as part of them when the time comes to clean house. And I'll give Efa the first shot should she wish it. But there's nothing that we can feasibly do about that at this exact moment."

"It's too late for me to change my course now. But if any of you want out, now's the time to turn back. Our dispatch from General Carlinn will arrive before dawn. I can't ask you... I can't ask my friends to potentially throw away their lives for someone like me."

[SeriousConcentrate]

Leo shook his head.

"I've come too far, been involved in this for too long to back down now. And I have things I want to fight for, too. I'm not going to go, not when I know my abilities can still be of use in ending this tyranny. But after that... I hope you don't mind if Sheila and I go our own way for a time. I'd like to travel with her."

[Furtuka]

"Of course Leo. You two deserve a long and happy life together."

"Though I would hope that you come back to visit sometime. You're a good friend, and we still have unfinished business to attend to." he said, remembering their promise to seek out Eleanore's father.

[SeriousConcentrate]

Leo nodded; he remembered.

"Of course. I'm sure we could make time for that."

He put an arm around Sheila's waist at 'we'.

Alec stared at Julius with a stern expression.
: "...Julius. I don't normally deal in these, not even when I was under Matilda, but you're going to need to live by this if you hope to go somewhere as leader of the Empire. I need a promise that you'll strive to do everything in your power to protect those who swear by your rule."

[Furtuka]

Julius nodded solemnly, and crossed his hand over his chest.

"I swear it." he said, lowering down on his knee.

Miguel gave his hands a sharp clap from the corner of the room.

: "Good! Then we are settled."

: "Tomorrow... Tomorrow we will storm Castle Troy, before the rest of the army returns back from Garaz. Twill be quite the rumpus I imagine."

He put a finger to his temple thoughtfully.

: "Y-yes. Yes indeed."

Alec raised an eyebrow in surprise.
: "Really, now? Have some dignity, blueblood. You're supposed to be the Emperor here." He stated, a slight amount of sarcasm tinging his voice, before becoming much more serious, "Stand up. I'll accept."
Reaching into his backpack and pulling out his leather-bound notebook, along with the flute out of its case, he placed them on the ground. Kneeling on the ground and laying a hand on them, he spoke slowly.
: "By the Dragon who drew me to the songs once sunken to the depths and revived in this tome; I pledge my knowledge, skills and loyalty to the reign of Emperor Julius the First, and to the life and health of my comrades here who have fought the same for me." He peeked an eye to look at Ciera for a couple moments, then briefly at Grifen, Sheila, Fezz and Miguel, before shutting his eye and awaiting Julius' response.
