Sheila came very close to reassuring Ciera when the smaller girl revealed the bomb she'd dropped. "Oh." Yeah. This could get tricky. "... So, when you asked that, what did he say? I mean, exactly."

"I... I mean, I didn't even mean to me just... in general. But he... He danced around the question. Said it wasn't something he thought about. And that... he didn't want to be in a world that wasn't safe for his betrothed. But the world is never going to be safe. So... so what kind of answer was that? And... I just... I'm an idiot."

"Well, I'm not going to lie to you or anything, that was totally a dodge. But that's kind of a big question, so don't take that too hard. I mean, you two have only been... Together? For a few weeks now, right? It's not unreasonable to guess that it was just the first thing he could think of to say." Sheila was trying to keep a collected facade, but was struggling internally. This was potentially a huge issue for her friend.

"I *know* I shouldn't have asked. It's not... I don't even want to know if he wants to marry me. I just... It's because of your marriage, I just... lost control of what I was saying and... and... what if I ruined everything? I mean... I just left. And... he didn't stop me. And I don't know if I should go back or just... let him be. Not bother him anymore."

"We wound up finding our way to the meeting place that our ally had asked for us to appear, and decided to head in to discuss our plans."

"However, we shouldn't discuss this here. Let us meet with the rest of our comrades in a safer spot."

"Well no, definitely don't do that. I mean, we're all still working together, so it's not like you can run away." Sheila noted in the back of her head that that wasn't true. If Ciera really wanted, she could leave and no one else could really stop her. No reason to admit that out loud, even if she didn't think Ciera would do that. "If he wants to explain himself next time you see him, let him. If he doesn't, don't force it. You shouldn't assume he wants to be rid of you just because he's not ready to talk about marriage."

: "Oh please keep talking!" Alec uttered in probably his most uncharacteristically sardonic tone yet.
Despite that, he took a couple deep breaths.
: "Actually please don't." He calmly directed at Grifen before turning to address Julius, "If you're done playing into the hands of people who sent poison knives and forbidden magics at you, then yeah, we shouldn't."
Turning around quickly enough to whip his longcoat, Alec continued down the street back to the inn where Fezz was.

"I... I could leave! I could just fly away. It's not like I'm that memorable."

She sighed and quieted down.

"But I wouldn't... I couldn't abandon you all. I just... I just won't talk to him. If... if he wants to talk to me, he can but I'll leave him alone until then. It will be better that way. He won't feel any pressure to... to pretend everything is ok."

Sheila tensed for a moment when Ciera said that, yes, in fact, she could fly away. But Sheila relaxed again when the other girl said she wasn't going to. "Well I can't make you go talk to him." Well... "I still think you should though. What if, when you left, he decided he needed to wait for you to approach him? You can't know. I'm not telling you to do it right now, or even today. But don't wait too long if he doesn't come to you."

[Swordstar]

"No. No I don't think I will. If... if he doesn't come talk to me, it means he doesn't want to. And... and that's his choice. If he doesn't want to talk to me anymore, that's... that's ok. I'll trust his judgement for what's best for him."

"If that's your decision, then that's your decision." And if it is, I'm gonna have to go sticking my nose where it doesn't belong if you two don't sort your shit out.

The nomad shrugged, then followed Alec.

Leo left the inn, seeing that no one else was there.

"Yeah, well... We should probably head back to the others, right? It's getting kind of late and all."
