Alec visibly sighed in relief.
: "Whew, there you are. That was easier than I hoped."
: "Come on, you two shouldn't be traveling alone out here, of all places. And I need to have a word with you, Classy-mask."

Meanwhile, Sheila left the inn that she and Leo had visited earlier in the day, and set about finding her friends.

[Swordstar]

Ciera had been wandering around the town, barely paying attention to where she was going when all of a sudden she stumbled into a taller figure. Stumbling back and stuttering apologies, she looked up and saw it was Sheila.

"Oh, it's you. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to... I just wasn't paying enough attention I suppose. I'm sorry. At least... at least I'm not big enough to hurt you. Right?"

She smiled slightly at that last comment, clearly trying to joke.

[Blade Master Model 42]

"Hey, no big deal. I should have been watching where I was going."

"Are you feeling okay? You sound kind of out of it."

[Sirus]

: "Oh! Heya Alec. What's up?"

[Swordstar]

"Huh, yeah, no I'm..."

She paused and looked up at Sheila again. This was Sheila. She could trust her. She had in the past, why couldn't she now? She hesitated and then slowly shook her head.

"No. I'm not ok. I... I said something stupid to Alec. I... I said a couple stupid things to Alec. But... because of it, I'm pretty sure that... that I care more about him than he cares about me. That... that I was silly for ever thinking he might. I mean... he's older and has all sorts of adventures under his belt I'm sure and he's smart and talented. Why... why would someone like that want to end up with someone like me?"

[CrimsonEon]

: "'What's up..?' Just worried sick over the two most important people to the Empire about now."
Alec blinked and scratched the back of his head.
: "Er, sorry 'lil Miss. I don't want to be overbearing, but it's not exactly an exaggeration from where I'm sitting. We're practically on Troy's doorstep, y'know?"

[Sirus]

: "What...? Oh criminy, we were gone fer a while, huh? Sorry about that. We just got done meetin' with Fyra and a buncha top Imperial folks. Was sorta a secret meetin'. We're, uh...sorta gonna attack tomorrow, with their help?"

[CrimsonEon]

Alec's eyes went wide.
: "..."
He looked from Julius to Grifen, to Julius again, then Grifen.
: "You what?!?" He couldn't exactly control his voice, clearly sounding like he wanted to scream louder.
: "I- just- how- daaaargh!!"

Sheila pulled Ciera into a tight hug, patting the back of the other girl's head. "Hey, there there. It's okay. Don't think for a second that you aren't a great catch. Look, I'm not going to tell you you're being silly or anything dumb like that... But you can't know how he feels unless he tells you he feels that way. You can't... Make assumptions about what Alec wants, with or from you. I made a lot of assumptions about my relationship with Leo for a long time, and most of them were pretty much dead wrong. Just do your best not to get too wrapped up in your head, thinking will he or won't he, okay?"

[Swordstar]

"I just... I'm so stupid. I shouldn't have said anything. I keep doing things like this too. I just... I'm such an idiot."

[Sirus]

Grifen backed up half a step, her own eyes wide.

: "Whoa whoa, easy there. Deep breaths. We're both okay, we still got the Crown Blade, and the Imperial folks seem on-board fer now. It coulda gone worse."

[Blade Master Model 42]

Sheila held the hug. "What makes you think you're stupid? I wanna know."

[Swordstar]

"I... I do stupid things. And don't think them through. Like... like when I stabbed the tree and Alec and I almost could have died. Or when I talked with Leo about you two. Even though that turned out well, it could have been bad. What if I'd ruined everything? I just... I don't think things through and I do stupid things and say stupid things."

[Blade Master Model 42]

"I don't think it's really fair to beat yourself up for things that could have happened Ciera. And nothing bad came out of those things in the end. All's well that ends well and all that. You aren't stupid. I've met stupid, and you aren't. Okay?"
