The town square was full of people and various statues, with teh centerplace dominated by a statue of archer lady, spearman and three smaller people in armors. Unfortunately it was quite eroded so only vague shapes of things could be discerned; for example, the female is a female because of two weathered bumps on the chest.

Please tell me the Royal Physician didn't go to the same college as the Spymaster.

Efa glanced upwards with mild curiosity at the statue.
:"Heh... archers getting credit, huh?"
She wandered up to the statue.

Unlike most statues in the Empire, the plaque on this one had a vague descriptor of 'THE TRAGIC HEROES OF ELAM' written on it; no names, or a date, nor artisan's signature was present.

Efa muttered her thoughts to the world at large:
:"Well, that's sure... descriptive. And informative. Real bang-up job explaining this thing, really."

She twisted her way out and pinched the bridge of her nose.
:"Ugggghh... How did you even know where to follow me??"

He fell onto his back and the only thing coming from him was a low 'ghhhhhh' coming from his throat.

Some of the nearby festivees chuckled. It would be a bit of a problem if any soldier would witness this, but no one around was from Army, it seems.

Well, that was enough to convince Efa that this venture had been an ill-thought-out one, and she cleared out of the town square to go and maybe find someone else from her group.

Grifen did what just about anyone would do upon being told such monumental news.

She wavered and nearly passed out.

Commander Fyra quickly left the table and helped Grifen find a sack of vegetables to sit on, just in case of future dramatic expositions.

"Magister, what about the boy?."
Spymaster interjected.

"Well, yes, hmm..." Others looked at the Magister as the old man pondered a lot.

"That's, hmm, yes. Yurgen is too young, Masalla died in childbirth of Sepin, Empress Helra was monogamous, Emperor Troy VI had only his daughters... the closest relative of the boy would be Troy V. Yes, he is probably a descendant of Troy V and one of his harem concubines." There was silence for a moment, while Commander went back to sit at the table.

"Doesn't that make them cousins?"

"Yes. No. I mean, they are half-cousi... their parents were, are? Half-cousins. These children would be half-second-cousins." The Spymaster chuckled.

"We should marry the two together. This will gets us away from potential claims and hereditary issues, plus-"

"Spymaster! That's hideous! That's incest, and it's penalized by law!" The other officers nodded after Fyra, while Magister Torriani scratched his nose.

"Technically... they're at Fifth Relation, so by the Imperial Law they can freely marry, even their parents could, technically, yes, plus their children wouldn't go... wrong. Barring bad luck, of course..." The 'council' looked at Grifen and Julius, silently quering them.

Grifen, who had just started to feel better, stammered for a few seconds before responding.

: "I'm, uh...I'm sorta already involved with someone. Who ain't Julius, I mean."

Fezz spent a bit thinking in silence. "No, can't say I have. Last I remember, I think he wandered off with Grifen. They're probably still together, maybe. They may be enjoying the festivities..." The historian offered, although he didn't buy it himself.

"We should... We should probably look for them, shouldn't we?" The man sighed, retrieving a bookmark from within his cloak to replace his finger. "Starting to think I should of bought a tome on divination instead."

: "With the 'Lil Miss?"
Alec wore a look of concern for a couple moments before sighing.
: "...Both the royals. Why can't I shake this feeling that something's going on?"
: "It's best we do that. We can't lose track of either of them, given how important they are." Alec turned around and looked outside the window, "...And why are people celebrating..? This wasn't a holiday, last I checked."
