"Well... there isn't a problem. I never said there was a problem. Tings are fine. Yeah. Fine."

Ciera stared at the floor for a few seconds before shrugging. She wasn't especially good at hiding her feelings but she tried her best.

Her best was not good enough to dissuade Old Man Lover. He pinched his nose in frustration. Well. Perhaps it was time to return to an age old adage. The woman is always right.

: "Well... If you think things are fine, I won't question it."

: "However. Should things become... Not fine, please speak to someone immediately. One does not stand on one leg alone, but two. Aye?"

Ciera shrugged slightly.

"I... I'm not... I mean, I do talk to people about stuff. It's just... not always my place to talk about things, you know? I mean, I may say some stupid things sometimes, and that's an issue I need to deal with for myself, but the problems aren't always mine. And so... It's not my job to talk about things."

There we go. The ol' fake walk out. Never fails to work! But there seemed to be more to this anthill. Further he delves.

: "That may be true, but there are times when intervention is necessary. Let me think of an example. If I were to say, your friend is drowning. You would not let them drown just because it is solely, 'their' problem, correct?"

Ciera rolled her eyes.

"That's not the same and you know it. It's... it's not a problem here. It's just something that he feels. And it's perfectly fine."

Miguel shrugged.

: "Fine for him perhaps. But I was talking about you."

"It's... it's fine. It's not something that even should matter right now. And so that's fine! Yeah."

Besides, I never should have brought it up in the first place. It's not like we've known each other for a long time. I barely told him I liked him, we haven't even kissed, and I'm expecting him to know about marriage? I mean, I didn't mean me specifically, but how else was he supposed to take it. Ugh.

Miguel stood in silence for a few moments.

: "...Are you still there lass?."

"Yeah, no, I should just... go. Thanks for trying to be nice but I just... It's my fault and it's not something that someone can really help with. Thanks though."

Miguel shook his head sadly. There wasn't much he could do to help a bird with a broken wing.

: "If you insist, I won't stop you. But don't go it alone, aye? We're damaged goods all of us. We'd eventually fall apart without someone else being there to put us straight every once and a while."

Ciera gave the man a sad smile and a shrug, before slipping out of the stable. Wandering through the town, she didn't really pay attention to where she was going, lost in her own thoughts.

As she left, Miguel hung his head and loosed a heavy sigh. Hopefully things would turn out alright. He turned to his horse.

: "There is only so much you can do, aye? Come here now... Your hair is all mangy. Let's get you cleaned up."

"This way, this way then!" She led them into the corridors of the inn, past the bedrooms where moans and laughters were mixed with each other. The maid then let them through the back door, checking the alley first for any presence.

Then, she let them between the buildings and into a small shed adjacent to some nondescript two-story house. Inside, there were gardening tools and a carpet strewn on the floor. The maid pulled the carpet away and exposed a trapdoor.

The hinges didn't make a tiniest sound, surely freshly cleaned and oiled, while Guinne opened the trapdoor and rushed the pair inside. The trapdoor was shut and Julius and Grifen were left in the darkness.

Then a bright illuminated a certain lady's hand and face. The surroundings gave impression of some wine cellar or something of that sort.

"I'm glad you decided to trust me." Commander Fyra looked at Julius, then at Grifen.

"I hope none of your friends followed you? Last thing I need, we need, is getting other people in here startled."

Grifen nodded her assent.
