The church craftsman took the money, passed the books to Fezz, and blessed him with words of Dragon on his way out.

: "Hohoho. Sir Cervantes, yes. Don't you ever forget it."

Off in the far distance somewhere, a clocktower bell began to chime away merrily. Miguel shook his head with a small smile.

: "Ah what a foolish old man I am. I fear I have forgotten to feed my horse again! How silly of me!"

: "Oh well! I'd best go back to the ol' inn and do that just that. Take yourself, would you lad?"

Ciera simply wandered trough the town, not really paying attention to what was going on around her. Eventually she made her way to the outskirts of the village, and sat down on a bench looking out into the forest. She sighed, and shook he head again. She still couldn't believe she'd asked that. It had just popped into her head and then... popped out of her mouth. She was going to have to be extra careful around Alec now. Probably already scared him off, if his response was anything to go by.

A few minutes later, she let out a sigh and stood up. Wandering back towards where they had left their mounts, she found Mazin, and began to groom him a bit. She glanced over and saw the horse that belonged to Miguel staring at her. With a blink, she shrugged and reached into Mazin's saddlebags and pulled out some sugar cubes. Giving one to Mazin, she held out the other one to the horse.

"Want some sugar?"

Old Sancho neighed nosily and sloppily stole the sugar cube from Ciera's hand. Oh sweet divine cubes! It had been far too long! Sure, he had already eaten once already today. But he was never the kind of horse to be denied free sugary food!

Ciera giggled quietly and pat the horse.

"Heh, you're a sweet old horse, aren't you? Good horse. Yeah."

Sancho bobbed his head up and down happily. Of course he was a good horse! He was always a good horse! Now about that sugar. He nudged towards ruggedly beautiful Pegasus' saddlebags, searching for more of the devilishly delicious things.

"Whoa there. Heehee, you're a good horse, but careful there. Mazin doesn't always like people nudging at her side like that."

Mazin, on the other hand, simply looked back at Sancho, blew some air at him, and turned back. Ciera giggled again and reached into the bags. She didn't pull out sugar, but instead pulled out a nice sized shiny red apple.

"Here you go boy. This will be healthier for you. That way you don't get fat and Miguel won't get mad at me."

Sancho seemingly approved of this offering, and quickly devoured the shiny red pretty. He whinnied noisily, bopping his head back and forward happily. He could approve of the red head. No. He greatly approved of the red head!

"Neeeigheah! *snort*!"

Ciera chuckled and stroked the horse's neck, glad to see how happy she'd made him. Mazin, on the other hand, snorted and gently head butted his rider.

"Oh! Sorry girl, here you go!"

She pulled out a second apple and handed it to her pegasus. Mazin snorted in pleasure and chomped down onto the apple. That was much better. She should have gotten the first apple but she would forgive her human.

Sancho whinnied noisily, clearly unhappy with this turn of events! That needy little foal! How dare she take the red one's attention from him! The old nag rubbed his head up against Ciera, bopping her in the nose lightly in his bid for more attention. He would be loved!!!

Ciera sighed, and started to pat the horse again. She made sure to do the same for Mazin. Stuck between two jealous attention hogs. This was something.

Leo walked back out of their inn room and decided to go down to the common room to see who was around.
