"Yeh, how 'bout none of those?  Y'all know yer running straight into a trap, right?  Riemond soldiers've taken the border post, an' they're killing anyone who gets too close."

"We have to pass through. Would you consider lending us your strength?"

"Then take another border crossing south of here.  Y'all don't seem to mind the marshes between the roads, consid'rin' the look of yeh."  She eyed the mercenaries.  With a closer look, her assessment of them went up.  Bedraggled and footworn, they had nonetheless taken careful care of their weapons and, for those that wore it, their armor, and they had clearly kept themselves ready for a fight.  These people might actually stand a chance at breaking through.  "As for joining y'all, that all depends on how much you can pay me.  I'm between contracts, right now, thanks to those bastards holed up in there."

While everyone else was talking, Grifen simply admired the newcomer's horse. Whoever she was, she clearly took good care of it!

It should have occurred to Grifen that she still didn't have the slightest clue what this group was trying to accomplish, but she was here to learn healing magic and make friends, and that was pretty much all that mattered at this point.
