"Of course. That was nothing compared to some of the hits I've eaten, and Grifen healed me up in no time. Besides, what if I'd worn it into a fight and it totally blocked Leo or Grifen from healing me? Nah, testing it was way better."

: "Just don't ask me to stab ya again. That didn't feel good at all." Grifen cleaned her knife off and tucked it away.

: "But anyway, it's good to have that sorted out. I'm surprised that somethin' so powerful could be hangin' out in such a run-down place."

"I dunno, coulda been a really nice place in its heyday. We did find a lot of nice stuff in those musty old buildings, and it didn't get there by accident. Did you learn anything really interesting while we were there Fezz?"

"Yes and no. Archaeology isn't a fast-paced science, I'm afraid. I've learned that the place is one of vast and amazing potential to teach us about a perspective into time that we might not have had for many, many years. To actually learn that however, I'd probably need a few months alone, tools, references, and possibly a few other scholars to compare and contrast. So nothing immediately tangible, but I've got that site's location marked for future investigations if... Once this all blows over." The historian drank the last of the tea from the cup as he finished. It was quite good.

"Thank you again for the tea, Grifen."

Sheila shrugged. Patience was not one of her strong suits, so knowing that nothing had been learned, and would not be for some time, was kind of a downer. She started on her tea instead.

Leo stood and walked over to the group.

"So I spoke to Candy earlier, while we were exploring, and he seems to be under the impression that - hypothetically - if I, as a priest of the Dragon, decided to declare you Sheila Belmonte here and now there's not a thing anyone can do about it. What do the rest of you think? Is he right or wrong?"

It wasn't exactly the most subtle way to broach the subject, but he couldn't come up with a good one.

Grifen was so shocked that she tipped the kettle over. Tea spilled everywhere, but she barely noticed.

While waiting for the others to respond, Leo started helping clean up the mess.

Julius came out of his tent polishing a broken helmet piece he had picked up during the blur of activity at the end of yesterday's excursion.

"Did I miss something?" he said, looking around at the expressions on everyone's faces and the growing puddle of tea.

"Excuse me?" Renault stood up and shuffled toward the commotion.

Sheila stared at Leo open mouthed for a few seconds before turning to Grifen. "Hey, Grifen, there weren't any bits of any weird herb left on your knife a minute ago, right?"

"It's just a hypothetical question based on something Candy said!"

"It was just something I was thinking about. That's all."

Miguel stood nearby Julius, insistently pushing F's saucy little note in this breast. Of the forgetful lad! But it was clear that he was now enraptured by what was just happening.

"Um, well, you know I'm not really an expert on what your position lets you do. But... I think I'd want to actually have a little ceremony first." A blush was spreading on Sheila's cheeks. "Just a little thing. We could do it anywhere really. Just say a few words, exchange vows, that sort of thing." Sheila felt dizzy. Was this actually happening?

"Hmm, I see. Well, we have witnesses for a ceremony: the future ruler of the land, whether that's Julius or Grifen; Sir Miguel; Ciera; Efa; Renault; and Fezz."

"It's not as good as you deserve, and I'm sorry I can't manage better."

Leopoldo took a step closer to Sheila and took her left hand between his.

"Sheila Vega, will you marry me?"
