Then it fell off the throne and shattered, revealing a dark blue-purple stone, of size of half a fist, looking as if it was once a piece of something larger. The artifact was brimming with ancient power, and it was giving Fezz just a slight headache.

The historian at first gasped in horror at the broken artifact, until it revealed something far stranger. Fezz gingerly grasped the large stone and almost immediately slumped into the throne with a soft thud. That looked rather painful.

The scholar seemed to have recovered quickly, but looks at the shard with mild caution mixed with large heaps of awe and wonder now. "Amazing."

The door opened with a creak.

It was once a treasure room. Lined with copper statues, bookshelves full of precious manuscripts, and marvelous coats and robes hanging off mannequins and hooks.

Now the statues were green from patina, bookshelves hosted piles of dust and leathery flakes, and strings of thread and dusty cloth hanged from the half-rotten mannequins.

Fortunately, the two chests, at 8.15 and 10.15 were still in a good shape. Hopefully the things inside them were fine as well.
