Seeing Alec's befuddlement, Miguel went over and clapped him manfully on the back.

: "It is alright young man. Not everyone is made out to be a prince!"

"This... does complicate matters. I suppose we should decide who we're going to back right now, while we have time."

"I intend no offense, Grifen, but I'll continue to support Julius. I'm not sure how happy either of you would be on the throne, but I don't think you would care for it very much, and Julius wants to be a hero... and being a hero means sometimes doing things you don't want to do for the good of everyone."

"Although, what do you intend to do, Grifen? Surely this changes your plans for the future at least a little."

Alec shook his head.
: "Oh, for-... It's not that, old timer."
The bard resumed massaging his temples.

Miguel gave him a meaningful nudge.

: "I know. It's all rather daft really. We're small group of mercenaries who have just discovered that two of our number have bloodlines that reach all the way down to the Troian Era and that they are eligible for kingship in Troy because of it! But we are hardly in the place to strike a position now aren't we?"

: "Just have faith. Something will come up young man. Until then, enjoy this little moment. It's not every day you find out you've been travelling with genuine royal blood."

"Hmph. Well, I didn't wanna be Empress anyway." Sheila said as she passed the sword for the next to try. "Maybe they could both rule? The Empire is a big place after all. A third person would be good in that case though..."

"So I see you truly have no intention of fullfilling the mission you were hired for?"

Fyra came back in the same time, rubbing her temples. She looked better than a while ago.

"What you will do with this sword? Whom you want to try and make an Emperor... or Empress?"

Meanwile, Sheila was approached by her dad.

"Sheila, we have to talk in private." He spoke in hushed tone, giving Leo a silent stare.

Realizing the sudden conflict of interest that had just arisen, Miguel tactfully stepped forward to respond to both questions with one answer.

: "I think this is not the right time for that kind of decision. The wise accountant is the one who adds up all of his figures first, before making the investment. We've been given a lot to think about and we need to make sure all of our numbers add up. This is all very exciting, but I am certain we wouldn't want to disappoint anyone with a rash decision made in haste."

Ciera had taken the test when offered, but was glad when the blade was stuck for her. She had no interest in being royal. As for Grif and Julius being royal... It didn't really matter. She didn't know who she supported between the two of them, but for now it wasn't something she wanted to argue about. But when Charles spoke up, she looked over at him and quietly said,

"Your master is a good man, from what we saw. He has ideas about how to rule the Empire and some of them seem to be good ones. But if he were to rise up now, with the blade or without it, the other Dukes might simply see it as a grab for power and use it as a cue for them to rise up and grab their own power. We want to stop the conflict, not make it worse. Through us, we could have connections to the rebellion, to the Empire if Fyra and the other families the Emperor's ghost mentioned decide to help us, and perhaps to the neutral parties as well, if you support us. If one of our own is the one to claim the throne, they can use Duke Sepin as an advisor. Work with him to bring the peace and prosperity that Masalla has had to the whole Empire. Surely he would understand that?"

Sheila dutifully followed Renault away from the others. "What do you want to talk about daddy?"

Grifen shook herself out of her reverie enough to answer Leo's question.

: "Shoot preacher, I dunno. This is kinda a lot to take in. Think I could ask that ghost in there fer advice first?"

Leo ignored Renault's silent stare in favor of answering Grifen.

"If what Fezz said about a 'time limit' was true - and I have no reason to doubt it - then probably not."

[Furtuka]

"It was a bit hard to make out, but the emperor said he won't be back for another fives years I'm afraid. So unless we're to camp out here until then, that's sadly not an option."

[Sirus]

: "Well...dang." She almost wanted to wait five years for this, but she doubted the others would be willing. Plus the war would keep going in the meantime.

: "What Miguel said makes sense. Why don't we get outta this cave first and then we can sort this whole mess out?"

Alec, still pacing, passed by Charles and Ciera, quietly speaking as well.
: "Also, I'd like to note that the sword drew for those two. This development requires more discussion with Sepin, not something we can simply handle here. We'll happily initiate talks at the soonest opportunity."

"I would say this cave is probably the safest place and thus our best chance to talk this out, but if everyone wants to move on perhaps that is for the best."
