He was interrupted by Grifen's cheerful declaration, and slumped with the wind taken out of him.

"What's done is done I suppose..."

"You mean the man who forced us into the rebellion at sword-point? Good riddance, and good on Oggal." Sheila kept her eyes forward, and pushed a branch out of her path. "And if they're going to get orders to come after us, they'll be a fair bit behind, now won't they?"

Fezz cheerfully ignored the talk about the cheerfully possible thought of maybe 'they should of cheerfully killed those cheerful Imperials' to instead cheerfully chat with the cheerful Grifen. How cheerful! Haha. Hah.

"I'm glad to hear you're excited too Grifen. To be honest, I fear this trip may be a bit boring to some of our companions, but this is truly monumental in the field of archeology and the past! Why, if we could actually see the sword... I'd have to take a drawing of it, maybe a charcoal rubbing if it has any inscriptions, I simply must..." The historian began to mentally wonder off as a dauntingly large checklist began appearing in his mind of the many, many things he wants to do.

"That man was already as good as dead. If Oggal did kill him, it was a mercy."

Leo's tone was more... pitying, than vitriolic. Which may have surprised some of his team who knew how displeased he was with being forced into the rebellion.

"While I'm not of your group, may I remind you that these Imperials are also people? You can judge a soldier in war and go against his lord in full battle, but that doesn't rescind the fact that underneath all that, we're all people at our core."

Cyra watched the Imperials vanish below the crest of the hill and down the meandering road, wondering on Julius' implications.

"Depending on context, anyway. I'm all for not killing if it can be done. Tiny question: How sure are you of those implications, Julius?"

She pondered on why there seemed to be only a linear method of going against problems of late, in this group.

Julius turned to Cyra.

"They're people who've thrown their lot in with the Empire! The same Empire we've been fighting for months. The Empire that's killed our comrades, committed crimes against the laws of nature themselves, and is run by a god damn madman whom if you may recall, has had his soldiers kill innocent people in the past just so that he can laugh at it!"

[Tiruin]

"Personally, its a professional problem. A soldier is as much a mercenary until duty and obligation defines him otherwise, whereas we are defined by duty to a contract--monetary or otherwise, as the defining characteristic. You can argue that 'they had a choice' so you can kill them, but that's...superficial, in my regard. People work on ideas, and ideas turn into reasoning. That's why some people seem very unreasonable and illogical, because they're working on differing ideas than what you think."

She stretched and leaned against a tree.

"But all these ideas have context. Your point there on violating the laws of nature, I have no idea about: What I can say is that I doubt that -all- Imperial soldiers are implicated by that regard. Some are just doing their jobs, and some even defect from the Imperial troops because of the atrocities committed, but I doubt you've heard of them. Thing is, its a culture here--the madman is the figurehead, and if the attitude isn't countered, it'll continue into future leaders who would turn future madmen."

A subtle idea poked her.

"Just present the idea before you kill them next time? Make a nice warcry out of it?"
