"Do I? Perhaps in the past I did. These days I think Sheila is a better leader than I can be. But it's nice of you to say so."

Cyra was busy taking in the sights of what she guessed should be a pretty dreadful forest. Usually this depicted monsters in the midst of the tress--she wondered how they would live if not visible from the perimeter, or on how big the mosquitos get. Mosquitos were the true monsters, for her.

Able to maneuver her horse subtly around the rest, she unslung her longbow and called out to Efa, preferring a somewhat unconventional approach to words.

"You're Efa, right? I've something for you here, take my longbow--we can trade, if you want, but I'd rather give this to someone who is more adept with it."

Seeing her tenseness...especially in body language, Cyra decided to shift gears in the chat.

"Also do you need anything? Anything in mind?"

"Hmm... I think... Sheila is a strong person, it's true. And she's good at getting people to do things. But... you... The way you treat everyone in the group... The way you put yourself at risk to help heal us and protect us... It's clear that you care about us. You're both good leaders, but in different ways. You're dedicated and from what I hear, loyal enough to a promise to take on an Imperial Commander and his personal guard. Sheila may be good at helping people feel good but you... You're loyal and you inspire loyalty in others. You're the reason everyone is here right now and not scattered across the continent with Matilda dead and the rebellion dead along with her."

"If I hadn't kept that promise, a good man would still be alive today, and an arrogant woman who's done nothing but cause misery and strife would be in her grave, and so many people wouldn't have suffered because of my stubbornness."

"I decided to take Matilda's job offer, I made the promise to her father, I made the decision to stick by her when we had a chance to leave. This rebellion getting as far as it has is all my fault. I want nothing more than for things to go back the way they were. But they can't, and they won't. All I can do now is keep the people who stuck with me alive for as long as I can."

Ciera frowned, recognizing that the man was in a similar mood to the one she had been stuck in. She only hoped that she'd be able to do something similar for him that Sheila and the others had done for her. She lightly bapped him with the shaft of her javelin, and shook her head.

"Stop that, ok? Remember when you were telling me about how what happened wasn't my fault and all of that? Well, it's the same here. You couldn't have known what all would have happened when you made your decision. But here's the thing. Everyone here? They could have left at any point. Heck, Alec almost did leave, even when you chose to stay, remember? But... They stayed for you. Because they trusted in you. Do you think Grif or Efa would have trusted a fool? Do you think Sheila would have trusted... would have fallen for an idiot? Give us more respect than that."

She gestured to the surrounding group and smiled at him.

"We're all here, working together, because of you. So maybe Matilda's not the right one to lead the country. That doesn't mean that the Empire is right either. Can you honestly look at the world we're living in and say that you wouldn't change anything? That you wouldn't change a government that allows for the use of forbidden magic so long as it's against someone they consider the enemy? Maybe the Duke's the right choice. I'm not completely convinced of that but... Our group is strong. And we're strong because of you. So maybe we go, find this sword, and then fix the world ourselves. Stop this fighting, bring peace and justice. But... We can't do that without you. Without the real you, not the one caught up in doubt and self-pity. I know what that's like. I still am trying to convince myself that I'm helping, that I'm not a burden. But... We need you. You're our leader, and we want to follow you. We trust you."

"I know this is a terrible world. I didn't realize the depths of the empire's depravity until recently, but I knew the rebellion wasn't much better from the start. All I ever wanted was to make things better for people. I've certainly managed a bang-up job of it."

"What you said about the sword... I've been thinking about that myself. Perhaps one of our group ought to claim it..."

: "Wait, what would be wrong with giving Duke Sepin the position? Did he say something to you, Leo?"

Ciera frowned, and then leaned down off of her pegasus and gave him a quick, unbalanced hug before pulling herself back up onto Mazin's back.

"What has happened is not your fault. Please just try and believe that. Because I promise you it's true. Really."

He startled her with his next suggestion though.

"One of... One of us? I don't... Do you really think one of us could be a ruler? Seems like we're more fighters than rulers. I was thinking... Well, I dunno, maybe Duke Yonn. He's always be fair from what I've seen. But... Who were you thinking of in our group?"

[SeriousConcentrate]

"No, he didn't Candy, but I don't trust him. He's too flighty. I can't help but feel he wouldn't take the position seriously."

Leo turned his eyes to Ciera.

"...Me."
