Ciera was laying on the floor, too close to falling unconscious to be able to coherently respond to Cyra. She tried to cough out a few more words, but didn't manage it.

Leo immediately moved to Ciera's side.

"...You really gave it your all, huh?"

As her wounds began to heal, Leo started talking to her. Shaking her head, Ciera shakily stood up.

"N...no. I just. just screwed everything up. Efa needs more help than me. I'm... I'm sorry."

She started to head away from the group, trying to keep the tears from spilling out around them. Even if she was pretty sure half of them hated her now, she didn't want them to see that."

Leo stopped her with a hand on her shoulder and stepped in front of her. He looked at her for a moment, then stepped in and gave her a hug.

"...You did what was necessary. Being in the business of war means sometimes things like this happen... and I'm glad Efa survived, thanks to your actions."

The saint patted her back and stepped back, his hands on her shoulders.

"You're one of us. Don't forget that."

Ciera shook her head.

"You don't know what happened. I'm pretty sure... pretty sure there are at least a couple people who would be glad to see me leave now."

As hard as she had tried, a few tears started leaking out of her closed eyes. She roughly rubbed them away, n=wishing that Leo hadn't stopped her.

"I heard and saw enough to make an educated guess."

"You can't keep thinking that nobody wants you around. I don't know why you believe this, why you seem to want to believe it, but you're wrong."

"It's true that maybe we haven't been the friendliest bunch, but please understand we've been through a lot to get this far, and there are still miles of hard road to go. It's... easy to lose your way under such circumstances."

He was thinking of his own meeting with Renault at that.

"Efa has a good head on her shoulders. I can't blame her for her reaction, nor should I, but I'm certain that if there are any problems between you two she will forgive you."

"I was willing to kill her *sister*. Even though it didn't end up being her... I was still the only one that stood up and said that the best option was to kill her. And then I killed the only person who could have given her information on saving the rest of her family. Maybe you're just an amazing person, but I think she's justified in hating me. I knew what I was getting into when I chose to attack her 'sister'. It's ok."

Alec, for his part, walked back to the northern part of the hallway where the ashes of Efa's sister remained. Crouching down with his tome and pen at the ready, he took a few notes, face scrunched in a fit of frustration.

"I know you did. I'm sorry that Efa's sister had to be caught up in all of this, and I'm sorry you had to be the one to kill her, but it wasn't her. In the end, it was either stop her or let her kill all of us; it had to be done."

"The same could be said of that assassin, too. Maybe he had answers, but there is a strong possibility we never could have gotten them from him."

"Listen. What you did for Efa's sister was an act of mercy. An existence where you can't control your own actions, forced to attack your loved ones... She must have been really suffering."

Once Grifen's eyesight recovered from the blinding flashes that killed the sniper, she recognized the one person she wanted to see most at the moment. She moved quickly over to Fezz and gave the scholar the most crushing hug she could manage (which wasn't saying much). The nomad sobbed quietly, shaken by what she had seen this night.

Miguel quivered and shook. His hands were shaking from both the shock of beserking and old age. With a sideways glance to Ciera, he retreated.

: "I should retire for the night... Forgive me."

And away he went.
