"Why not. Go on, ask, and I shall answer, if I can."

Fezz realized that, when asking if one could ask question, one should have questions prepared. Several popped in his head as he mentally scrambled, one he's sure would get him a sword in the gut, a second to most likely further ostracize him, and a few decent ones. It occurs to him at this moment that maybe, maybe he should first ascertain the motives of someone before he's agreed to help them. He can't help but feel that asking would end badly.

"Er, what exactly are the supplies we'll have for the journey? We... Haven't exactly been kind on our funds during our extended stay, and this will be a long trek over land. Will it just be what we have, or are you..." The scholar trailed off there, not wanting to fully ask it.

"And, uh, speaking of journeys... Of the three paths that you suggested, er, what would you personally choose? And the particular reasoning? I have my leanings but its... Good to see what others think." He had no leanings yet, in fact he was hoping he could consult a map to be sure he's figuring where it was right.

"And, uh... Er, please don't take this the wrong way, but... Do you have any enemies? You know ours, but... Well, you're alone in a keep with two servants disguising yourself with, uh, extremely dangerous information. I don't mean to, erm, imply, but, well..." He decided it was good to shut up now.

Staring up at the ceiling, Ciera growled in frustration and flung a pillow across the room.

"Ugh, why? Why out of everyone did I have to stab him? I can't... I can't even look him in the eye now. Even though he pretended like it didn't matter, I still stabbed him! I don't... I don't deserve him. He deserves someone better. I'm better off just... leaving it alone."

She curled up on her side and closed her eyes before any tears could sneak out.

Miguel stood in a nice little antechamber admiring the fine cushions upon the couches and chairs to be found there. He could not help but remark that this Duke had style. Such fine pattern weaving! And such fine cloth!

: "Remarkable. This cushion must have cost a small fortune!"

[Sirus]

Grifen was still waiting in the antechamber for Fezz's return when she heard a soft "thwump". The sound had apparently come from a pillow which had been thrown against an open door, and Grifen, grateful for any distraction, carefully approached and knocked softly on the door.

: "Hey Ciera, you throw this thing? What's wrong?"

[Swordstar]

"Nothings wrong. Why should it be? I mean, all I did was stab Alec. Almost kill him. Who wouldn't want to fall in love with someone who physically harmed them? I've just... ruined everything. So I'm just... giving up."

[Sirus]

: "Ah..." Grifen hesitated at Ciera's bitter tone, then walked inside the room and sat on the edge of Ciera's bed, rubbing the other woman's arm.

: "Fezz told me about that. Nasty magic called Berserk, right? He says it's banned by the empire fer how powerful it is..." She thought for a moment. "Still, I don't think you should give up. I mean, Alec should understand that it weren't yer fault. Heck, I passed right under ya, you were yellin' and frothin' at the mouth."

[Swordstar]

"Oh great. So I could have stabbed you as well as Alec. Guess we're lucky I only almost murdered one person in our group instead of more."

She buried her head in her pillow, muffling her voice so Grif could barely hear the next part.

"Everytime I try to prove I'm useful, I just screw up more. Got myself knocked out of the sky tryin to take out one of their staff users. Heck, only reason I killed him was cause I'm a klutz. Sword got stuck in a tree branch and lost my grip on it when I freed it. Stabbed the enemy in the throat. Felt like an idiot. Always feel like an idiot around him..."

[Sirus]

: "Aw, c'mon. That weren't what I was tryin' to say at all. Ya had no control, that's what the Berserk magic does to ya. If they'd had a mind to do it they probably coulda made Leo attack Sheila or somethin, and ya know how much they care fer each other."

: "'Sides, you did do somethin' useful. That fella with the staff was the one making folks freeze like statues, right? You put a stop to that! Maybe it weren't the fanciest way to do it but it was a big help anyway. Meanwhile I tried to put a stop to the fella with the wind magic and just got myself hurt cuz I wasn't paying attention. Fezz had to step in and save me."

[Swordstar]

"Yeah. Killed a guy who couldn't even defend himself. Anyone coulda done it, just were smarter sticking with the rest of the group. 'Stead I get knocked down and Leo gave me a lecture about not gettin myself killed by ditchin the group. Mentioned somethin about someone else doin that. Just make others worry bout me."

[Sirus]

Grifen was silent for a moment, remembering the person Leo was likely talking about. Then she determinedly shook it off.

: "Naw, ya had to deal with that fella as quick as ya could and ya got the job done. If we had tried to do it all at once we'd all be frozen right now, probably. Yer the only one who coulda flown across the river and gotten to him so quick." With that, Grifen got up and began tugging at the pegasus knight's arm.

: "C'mon, y'ain't gonna feel any better moping around in here. How about you talk to preacher about this? He might have some idea fer getting past this mishap."

[Swordstar]

"Fezz coulda taken him. Probably wouldn't have been injured either."

She let herself get pulled up by the taller girl and shrugged.

"Dunno what mop top will have to say that'll make things better. Nothing really to be done. Just gonna have to get over this stupid crush and move on."

She didn't try and stop Grif from dragging her out of the room though.

[Sirus]

: "Fezz can't move as fast as ya can, though. Anyway, preacher might be able to teach ya some meditation technique or somethin' to clear yer mind. Maybe his magic can help too."

Grifen pulled the shorter woman into the anteroom, more guiding now instead of dragging.

[Swordstar]

"I guess... Still think I'd be better off just forgetting..."

She shut up for a second as she spied Alec within earshot.

"Forgetting that thing I was talking about. Not worth holding on to after everything that happened."

[Sirus]

Grifen frowned, then tentatively tapped Ciera with her Heal staff. She didn't really expect anything to happen, considering how weak she still was in the magic arts, but it couldn't hurt to try. Regardless of if anything happened, she leaned closer to whisper to the other woman.

: "You and Sheila told me not to give up on Fezz, so I ain't gonna let ya give up now. Now c'mon, let's see if anyone's got some idea on how to get ya through this."
