Ciera swooped down with her new sword, aiming for the man wielding the staff that had been causing their companions so much trouble. However, she misjudged the distance slightly and instead of hitting the man as she and Mazin landed, she found her sword imbedded in a thick branch past the man. She yanked at the sword, hoping to be able to turn around and get another attack in. She tugged once more and found herself falling backwards as the sword suddenly came free. She landed on Mazin's back but felt the sword meet some sort of resistance as she'd fallen. Turning around, she found the sword piercing the man's throat. She hesitated and then looked around.
