After watching Alec walk upstairs and knock on Ciera's door, Sheila held a hand up in front of Grifen.

[Sirus]

Grifen was confused for a moment, then gave Sheila a high-five.

Alec creaked the door open a little ways and took a single step in.
: "We just got notice from a courier, our employers want a word with the whole team a ways out from here." Alec glanced around, Ciera didn't take any steps from across the room to answer the door...
: "How are you feeling? Can't sleep?"

[Swordstar]

"Ah, ok. Uhm... I wasn't really tired, I just... Needed some time to think I guess."

She hesitated and then quietly asked while staring at the floor,

"Alec am... am I a burden to you?"

[CrimsonEon]

Alec looked a little perplexed by the question.
: "A burden..?"
The bard seemed to think a few moments, eyes jostling and unfocusing slightly as if trying to recall a situation past. After a few moments more, they focused back.
: "Let me ask you something first, why do you think people help each other?"

[Swordstar]

"Help each other? Uhm... Because... because they care about each other would be one reason... But... It could also be because they were asked to help someone... And they're doing it because of that."

[CrimsonEon]

: "Sure, they could be asked to help, but let me say again like I did a month ago, everyone always has a choice. My little sister has trouble staying health, and my little brother tends to be rather scared of everything. If I didn't believe my they could ever stand on their own, I wouldn't be helping them now. If I didn't believe you were capable, I could have just dropped all pretenses right away and treated you like just another job. But I don't. Duke Yonn doesn't. And none of the folks here do either."
Alec laughed and shrugged while looking away.
: "Besides, you're probably the first person I could really level with since before I joined the rebellion. I swear, there are so many grumps around..."

: "Let us return then."

Miguel ambled his way back to the correct meeting place this time, making sure that he thanked Roncarlo profusely for his time. He hoped it would not be the last time that would see his old friend again.

[Swordstar]

Still staring at the ground, Ciera smiled slightly.

"... Oh. I just... I know Matilda told you to look after me... and I just... I figured you were busy enough without having to look out for a dtiz like me. Though... It makes me happy to hear that you can talk to me and all. It's nice having you in my life too. I just... I really like y... talking to you too."

[CrimsonEon]

Alec's eyes narrowed just a little, as if realizing something, and he stood thinking for a moment.

...So she IS... This... I need to choose my actions carefully, I can't let this end up like the last. But, on the other hand, would it hurt to just validate her feelings a little?

Taking another step inside, the bard lifted his hand up to pat Ciera's head and ruffled her hair around a little.
: "Ditz or no, you're a good person, Fly Girl. That matters much, much more than you think."
: "Come on, let's get downstairs."

[Swordstar]

"Ah!"

She giggled slightly as her hair got ruffled and looked back up at him.

"Thank you. I... It means a lot to hear you say that, Music Man."

She followed the bard out of her room and back down to the others.

[Sirus]

Grifen waved when the two reappeared.

: "Welcome back. Now we're just waiting on gramps, Fezz, and what's-her-name. Cyra. Hardly seen her at all."

[Swordstar]

"I didn't realize you were waiting on me, sorry about that... But I'm here now! Do we know where the others we're waiting on are?"

[CrimsonEon]

: "Well, the former two should be back before nightfall, at least. They were visiting one of Miguel's old friends in the town, talking about the old days when I ducked out."
: "Hope they haven't gotten too stuck in reminiscing."
: "I'm drawing a blank on the swordlady. _{Still need to come up with a name for her...}"

[Sirus]

: "Well, they'll get back when they're good 'n ready I guess. If nuthin else we can probably swing by and pick 'em up on our way outta town, assumin' ya remember where the place is."

: "Cyra might be tricky though. Maybe she skipped out. Dunno."
