Leo steepled his fingers and rested his elbows on the table, leaning forward.

"The truth now, Renault."

Grifen had resumed fiddling with her crossbow.

: "We were talkin', that mornin' before fighting that Commander Eul guy. And, well, I gave him a kiss. Just a little one. I shouldn't have done it, probably."

"What? Why not? If you like him I mean... And are brave enough to do something like that... Why shouldn't you let him know?"

"Grifen, that's awesome! Where'd you kiss him? Lips, cheek? ...Forehead? And how did he react? That's the important thing!"

[Haspen]

"I was young, brave, and stupid. Is that the explanation you wanted to hear? There, take it." The man grumbled under his nose and turned to admire the closed window.

"I just want to understand why Sheila admires you so much when frankly the circumstances under which she first met you were pretty poor."

[Sirus]

: "It was just one of them...what'dya call em?...spur-of-the-moment things. A--and it was just his cheek, nothin' fancy! He blushed a bit but, y'know, he's so shy he'd probably do that if anyone kissed him."

"Okay well it's definitely not a bad reaction. Grifen, I really think you should sit down and have a talk with Fezz about your feelings. I have a really good feeling about you two."

Grifen refused to comment on that.

It seemed like there was something more there that the nomad didn't want to talk about, which was a feeling that Ciera could sympathize with. She cast about in her head for another topic she could bring up instead, finally settling on...

"So, uh, do you think we'll hear back from Matilda and the others soon? Seems like they could use help and all..."

Sheila made a disgusted sound. "Ugh, fuck that bitch with a rusted pike. Seriously, even after hooking up with Leo and finding my dad, getting rid of that shrew was the best thing that happened that day. I just hate her SO much."

Ciera stared at Sheila, not completely sure how to take that outburst.

Miguel took an idle look at a nearby sundial then back at Fezz. Well. There was no time like the present!

: "Excuse me young lad! May I perchance have a word with you?"

Grifen shook her head, glad that the attention was off her.

: "I didn't know Matilda as long as Sheila, Efa, or preacher did, but Sheila ain't wrong. She wasn't a very nice person, and was always running off to get in trouble. I dunno if I'd wanna help her out again."

"But I thought... I thought Matilda just sent Leo and you guys out here for a little while? I thought she said she was going to call him back at some point... And... I got sent with you because the Duke wanted me with you guys. Or something."
