Alec blinked. He had a very, very bad feeling about this. Regardless, he pulled out the heavy leather book out of his pack.
: "...Dare I ask what you mean by that?"

[Xanmyral]

"...Music Man? I can see that." The historian nodded to himself at the mention of the name.

Besides the comment though, he left the two to their conversation, curious himself where the bard got his strange magic. At the explanation though, and the understanding on Candy's part, Fezz felt quite confused.

"I'm similarly curious, what's a Brown Note?"

[Sirus]

Grifen looked half-panicked at the idea, wringing her hands together.

: "I...I dunno. What if he don't think of me that sorta way? Maybe we oughta just drop this...maybe get Ciera talkin' to Alec? I mean, they barely even talk to each other at the moment."

: "Legend has it there's a precise musical note, or chord, likely a horribly off-key one that no responsible composer would ever write, which forces listeners to evacuate their bowels or stomachs, maybe even both. I don't know if this is true or not."

Candy talked very slowly so Alec could memorize and record this crucial information.

"..."

"Thaaaat's... Something."

Ciera shook her head.

"No, no. We don't need to focus on that. It's fine, really. And if Grif doesn't want to push with Fezz, we don't need to do that either. We can just... be happy that you have Leo! Yeah..."

: "Sorry to interrupt, though. What were you guys talking about?"

"Well, if he doesn't feel the same way, there's no sense in torturing yourself forever about it. Better to find out sooner than later."

"But come on! Grifen, you are a total little cutie! It'd be weird if he didn't feel something for you. And you shouldn't be so quick to give up either Ciera, you're not bad yourself."

Alec didn't even flinch.
: "..." He immediately tabbed to a certain set of pages in his book, ones that definitely looked like they were written on extensively. If one were to crane their head to look, it would look like a number of dots arranged in a certain pattern, not entirely unlike a set of notes on a musical chord. Settling his finger on one of the pages, his eyes scanned for a moment before he sighed.
: "I would not be surprised if that was something that exists." Making a single small note on the page, he clapped the book shut and returned it to its bag.
: "Mostly just a bit about the history from the Magic Wars and on Duster here's research. Might have a lead on how to get it back."

[Swordstar]

"It's not... It's fine. Really. You don't need to worry about me, alright? I'll be fine, I promise."

She put a smile on her face as she finished, hoping to convince the other girl that she really would be ok.

: "Oh! You mean the research that merchant left with? How are you planning to get it back?"

[Xanmyral]

Happy to get away from the subject, the historian nodded to Alec's explanation

"Yes, what Alec said. I just asked Alec what got him into the interest of it a short while back, since he mentioned interest in the various relics and artifacts as well. I mentioned a short while ago you expres--er, showed similar interest too. I suppose I'm to blame for the, uh, ear burning."

He left the explanation on getting it back to Alec, figuring the man could explain it far better than he could.

[Sirus]

: "Well...I guess maybe...we could give it a shot?"
She still felt positively terrified at the idea and didn't look very positive. She was mostly giving in to avoid explaining the uncomfortable truth about what awaited the young nomad back home.

Alec shrugged.
: "Simple. Find whoever's holding onto it and make them a deal they can't refuse. If not, get someone to swipe it."

: "But how are you going to find out who has it and where they are? Those shenanigans took place over four chapters ago!"
