Leo quirked an eyebrow at Julius's first two attempts.

"No, I can't say I have. I haven't had much time for stories, what with one thing or another."

His tone invited Julius to share it, if he wanted to.

"Grifen, not you too! Look, I was in this position last month, I liked a great guy and I convinced myself that I didn't have a shot. And, because of extraordinary circumstances he came out and told me and now we're together! You both are selling yourselves short! I am sure Alec and Fezz would count themselves lucky to be with you two!"

Sheila smacked her right fist into the open palm of her left hand. "Good news! I have a plan!"

Ciera glanced nervously at Grif.

"Uh... Don't take this the wrong way but... That just makes me worried..."

Candy thought for a moment on Alec's words. It was true, but he had it backwards. Alec was not a mythical creature nor a powerful mage. Candy was the one who should be surprised!

: "Sorry, sometimes trains of thought run into trains of speech, and the crash is catastrophic. Anyway, Music Man is not a mage, is he? The first Dance Fairy was probably born when a god slept with some peasant girl and male-birthed a duck, and the duck molted and turned into a fairy. The question is, how do YOU do it? Ciera stared at Sheila, having no idea how to respond to that.

"Ah... Uhm... That... sure would be an idea. But... I don't know if it's the best... Couldn't Leo just ask Fezz?"

She was hoping they could focus on that and ignore the fact that she hadn't included asking Alec...

"Hm... That could work for Fezz. Maybe. But it doesn't solve the Alec problem..."

Alec shook his head vigorously, and with a deep sigh addressed Candy's question.
: "Not even close to being a mage, Prancer. And... Er..." Alec slowly tried to rewind what Candy said in his head, "Yeah, my way of doing things doesn't deal with... Duck Fairies? On my end it's an art. An old, ancient song that moves people in ways normal sounds can't. I'd say more, but it's just that, a secret art. Not about god-birthed ducklings."
