Alec briefly nodded as he heard Yonn's account, but then grit his teeth a little as he answered.
: "Yes she did. Well, in her own, special, way."
: "Seems like my next assignment will have me acting as liaison to the rebellion for those mercs, so I'll promise to keep an eye on her and keep her out of trouble. Just as well, if you need any additional information from the lands we travel, don't hesitate to ask. I can include anything needed on any reports I can send back."

Julius held up his work to see it more clearly.

"This will have to do"

With the straps he had attached to the remains of the cloak it had been converted to an uneven cape. It would only reach down to his waist, but there wasn't much else he could do with what he had. He had also converted some of the leftover straps into belts he could attach his gear and packs to.

"Now I just have to find something to fasten it with..."

He was about to ask Miguel if he had anything when he remembered the mark he had in his pack. Quickly he dug it out and turned it over. To his satisfaction there were some square loops on the back that he could thread the straps through. He threw the cape over his shoulder and fastened the mark on.

  "Its... satisfactory I guess."

However his thoughts were stopped by a warmth he felt spreading through him. He looked down and realized that it was coming from the mark. It surged through is body and then stopped, as the mark suddenly appeared to lose some of its shine. When it was over, he could feel... different, healthier, more clear in thought...

"It can't be..."

Quickly he pulled out his notebook and flipped to the spear movements he had copied down again. Staring at them for a moment he then grabbed the Killer Lance he had found and executed them perfectly.

"I had one this entire time. This... this is perfect! I feel like I can do anything!"

Julius threw back his head back and his arms up in the air

"AHAHAHAHAHAHA"

Miguel looked on in stern grandfatherly confusion.

: "...Are you quite alright lad?"

[Furtuka]

"I'm better than alright!  I finally found it!"

He continued yelling in joy at the top of his lungs

Miguel shifted his feet awkwardly. Was this what happened to everyone when they found one of those little baubles?!

: "You're confusing me young lad. Were you searching for something?"

[Furtuka]

"Yes! A method of getting stronger! I've been trying to find one of these things ever since I learned about them, and now it turns out I've had one all this time!

: "I see... But are you certain that's how it works?"

[Furtuka]

"Well its either this or breaking it, and something shaped like this would need a hammer! AHAHAHAHAAHA"

[birdy51]

: "Perhaps..."

The old knight rustled the tiny gold and red crest out of his pocket.

: "I recently came into ownership of this little bauble myself. I snuck it out of your deadeye's bags while she wasn't looking."

: "I do hope she doesn't mind. Ho ho ho."

[Furtuka]

"Oh? What is it?"

: "A small thing."

Miguel twisted it around his hand for a time, examining it closely as he wandered off into wild musings.

: "If my memory serves me, it's called a Knight's Crest. I remember some of the elite knights of Troy being awarded this in a ceremony after the occupation of Garaz. My father and I were selling food that day, and I snuck off to the town square to watch. Twas quite the ceremony if I recall..."

Ciera slowly wiped the tears from her face and sighed. She was being sent with the mercenaries. That's all that mattered. She'd already made enough of a scene fleeing like she had. She needed to try and turn it around, work on presenting a strong face to them. It wouldn't do for them to think that she was weak. Wiping her face one more time, she pulled herself back into Mazin's saddle, and had him hop down from the roof, down near where the others were. She spotted Sheila and her father talking, along with others around but didn't feel comfortable just interrupting things. So, she slid off Mazin's back and sat down against the wall, hoping to talk to someone once they finished their conversations.

Grifen, who was sitting against a wall and resting after the nasty hit she took, looked up as Fezz approached. She gave the scholar a tired smile.

: "Heya. Sure is a lot goin' on, huh? Ya feelin' okay?"

Fezz nodded and sat next to the nomad, feeling similarly tired.

"I should really be asking you that question though. I heard you took a nasty spell. At worst all I was... Was put to sleep or something during the fight. But I heard you were hurt... Pretty bad." He looked worried, although from appearances now she looked perfectly fine.

[Sirus]

The nomad chuckled.

: "Yeah, ya sure did. Still on yer feet, but snorin' away. Probably woulda been funnier under other circumstances."

: "Yeah, I got hit kinda hard. Same magic guy who put ya to sleep apparently had another trick up his sleeve and I got blasted. Preacher fixed me up alright, but I'm gettin' a bit of rest while everyone decides what to do next." She watched the milling crowds silently for a few moments, then sighed. "Just so much stuff happenin' in such a short time. Ain't seen anythin' like it before. Have you?"
