Fezz had been quietly minding himself since the prior battle, winding down from the battle as he usual does by moments of quiet and attempted sensory deprivation to ease his oft-developing migraines. By the time they had reached the harbor, he was back to his typical self, if quiet.

"Hmm?" It didn't take the historian long to adjust to Candy's new appearance, considering all that's been going on. Seeing the magic, his eyes lit up and the man smiled.

"Ah-ha! That was magic indeed... Anima, I think? Its quite different than what I've seen, and it didn't even come from a tome. That's an incredible gift, Candy." The scholar was obviously impressed, looking with interest at the dancer's hands as if trying to work out how exactly he did that.

"I've thought on what you said before, a few days ago. I've been trying to hone the use of my magic to something more to my liking, instead of, well, how I typically use it."

To demonstrate, the monk pulled out one of his tomes and in a second a mote of light flared into existence. It moved around as if harboring a curiosity, before shivering slightly as it slowly grew wings and took on the shape of a crude simulacrum of a moth/butterfly. It flapped its 'wings' for a few moments, but obviously didn't use them to keep aloft.

Noticing the others being the assault, the fighting took a bit out of the monk's good mood. The simulacrum dimmed into the sunlight, vanishing without a trace. "I... Should help join the assault. I don't want the others to get hurt, and I'm the only one with my kind of magic." He rationalized to himself, before amending his statement.

"Thank you for showing me that Candy, I appreciate it." The scholar flashed a smile and paused for a moment in case of a response, then moved to join the assault.

Candy didn't have too much to say to the magician. His white butterfly took the words right out of the fairy boy's mouth. It was clear that Fezz would be one of those special few in the future. You know, the Humans who write tomes for other mages. Fezz acted impressed by Candy's sparks, but fairies clearly held no monopoly on innate magic. Wait, what did Humans call it? Candy thought about it.

: "Wow, Fezzrobe! What a pretty butterfly! That's - um, what do booky like you people call it? Thoughtallurgy? Tomatourgy? Oh, right. Thaumaturgy! I didn't think you could do that."

Candy looked off at the vast army ahead of them. This would be a bloody battle.

: "Fezzrobe... aren't most Human spells written for nasty fighting? There just has to be more uses for magic, like you showed me. All the healing spells are bound to staves... Maybe you and Leo can write books someday to help people treat wounds or light up tunnels. I mean, SOMEONE had to figure out this magic in the first place!"

"Thaumaturgy? I... I suppose." Fezz scratched the back of his head as he spoke slowly, as if chewing over something in his mind.

"Is, uh, that something particularly notable? I just sort of look at how tomes do it and... Copy a small part I suppose? Sort of. I admit the wings were a bit of guesswork and trial and error." The scholar rubbed one of his eyebrows at the thought. "I suppose this is one of the downfalls of how I was taught. I'm not very good at discussing concepts. Or... Well, terminology." The monk sheepishly admits to the fae.   

Listening to Candy's question, the historian couldn't help but nod. "Writing tomes..." The concept seemed foreign to Fezz, obvious that he hasn't contemplated the subject. "Some people make tomes based upon old techniques, but to actually write a new tome? I'd love to, the world could use tomes with far less violent purposes. You're very right, someone must of written those tomes. I bet there's records too."

The mage seemed taken with the idea, thinking back. "There was lots of strange magic in the time of the Magic Wars, maybe... Further back? I suppose if I do find anything, I should probably start small. Maybe something to replace torches? Or perhaps... Oh." Brought back to the idea that they were still in a raging battle, Fezz moved forward and continued the assault with some hesitation.
