: "Child...ren?" Alec spoke slowly, eyes drifting off as he rewound the conversation in his head. Then, his eyes clicked.
: "Oh no-no-no-no, I don't have any kids. I'm not even married. I'm talking about my little brother and sister. No. No kids. Nope."

"Oh. OH! I'm sorry. I don't know why... I just assumed. Uhm, yeah. So, siblings, huh? What was that like growing up? I always wanted to have a sibling. And then I moved into the Duke's castle and was one of the youngest but... Yeah, what was it like?"

: "Hm? Well, to be strictly honest, it's sort of a pain. Kids younger than you always have this knack to get into trouble, and it's always up to the big brother to keep them safe." Alec laughed in spite of himself, "But it's always worth it at the end of the day, helping them. They always have such a bright view of the future, and really, I'd want to make it so they're right about it and they can see it themselves."
: "Well, emphasis on helping them see it themselves."
: "But regardless, it's a lot of thankless work, looking out for them when their parents can't. Not exactly something to everyone's taste." Alec shrugged, opting to shift subject away from his family.
: "Hey, where'd you meet your pegasus? I hear they have to come to trust their riders pretty well to let them ride into battle."

Sheila gives Miguel the Dancer's Crest at some unspecified point in space time.

"Well, it sounds like you were a great brother. Even if you're complaining, I bet you love them a lot."

She smiled at the tall man and then brightened visibly as he asked about her pegasus.

"Oh, Mazin? Yeah, isn't he wonderful? I met him in the forest one day. He was still just a young pegasus then. But... he was all alone and hungry, so I fed him an apple and, well, he just sorta followed me home. I started training him and, well, he just stuck with me. He's pretty protective of me, to be honest. You're lucky he hasn't decided he doesn't like you."

: "Sounds like you've got a great friend, then. Maybe you don't have a sibling, but you don't normally come across that kind of loyalty." Alec craned his head to look at Mazin from another angle, "I've heard a lot of legends about pegasi, but I've never seen one up close. Well, ones that weren't chasing after me carrying riders with spears."
Alec paused briefly, glancing at the spears on Ciera's back.
: "Or, well, I guess I'll count myself lucky if you two don't have the same idea."

"Heh, I don't think there's any need to worry about that. You're a friend. Do you want to pet Mazin? Or, if you want, I could take you riding some day? Just cause you seem interested in them. There's nothing quite like soaring above the world, everything looking so tiny."

Alec chuckled and nodded.
: "I'm honored, both on being thought of as a friend and on that offer. Unfortunately that's something I'll have to take up later. Things are heating up a bit, and I'm going to have to pick up the pace on my work if we hope to keep the rebellion intact."
: "Got to say though, it's both terrifying and interesting an idea; the whole soaring above the world thing, let alone fighting like that. I much prefer the water myself, at least I'm close to it as I travel, if that makes sense."

Miguel accepts this gracious offering from Sheila in his usual old manly way and uses it immediately.

"Well, you know, if we're both going to be in this rebellion, we should be friends, you know? As for flying, it's something that not everyone is made out for. Some people can't stop focusing on what might happen if they fall. But you just need to focus on other things."

She frowned slightly, confused over something he had said.

"What did you mean by your work? How are you keeping the rebellion intact?"

Alec shifted a little.
: "Huh? Uh, how best to put it..." He paused for a moment before sighing and muttering to himself, "No, I don't think anyone's going to be buying it for much longer, and I need to be more honest anyway."
: "You could say I help keep an eye on things across the rebellion. Help relay communications and well, again, keep an eye on things. That and the whole refreshing music thing, but that's just something I do to make up for how I can't fight." He explained off, slowly enough that it seemed apparent he was choosing his words carefully.

"Oh, so like... you're some sort of information specialist or something?"

: "That's... A nicer way to say it." Alec chuckled to himself, "Y'know what? Let's go with that. Alec Slyvir: Information Specialist. Rolls right off the tongue."

Eventually, Grifen regained control of herself. Letting Bree wander wherever the horse desired, the nomad patched up her own injury while reflecting on how much practice she had gotten healing people lately. Eventually she happened upon Julius waving a broken spear around and Grifen was struck by something she hadn't noticed before.

: "Heya. Y'know, I just realized that I can't remember seeing ya without that hood of yers. How ya feelin'? Ya seemed kinda tense back there."

"Heh, it does sorta have a nice sound to it. Information Specialist and Magic Music Man. So tell me something, it seems like this group isn't a big fan of your lady. Why... why is that? If they don't want to be a part of this rebellion... I mean with you, you seem to be solidly a part of the rebellion, but some of these others, like... Sheila? She seemed really upset at my saying she served her. I guess... what happened?"
