Candy watches Miguel ride off to slay the dragon. Wait, where was he going again? Hmm. Dragon sounds right.

"No, I don't think so. Just because we haven't yet - and might not - find any information here doesn't mean the search isn't worth the time invested."

Miguel clicked his heels together and gave Candy a hasty salute before striding out the door in a brusque walk. Candy. What a silly name. But before he could contemplate this further, he arrived at the arena. He met the Arena Master with a face combining courage, gravity, and absolute insanity.

: : "I have returned. One round of combat against a single foe. No more. No less.

"I guess you're right. But it's just really hard staying positive. I've spent all this time searching, and I haven't turned up anything. At all." Sheila straightened up from the wall, and looked around. "What do you think, back with the taverns? Or maybe check the pier?"

[SeriousConcentrate]

Leo thought about it.

"The pier might be better. If there is a harbormaster here, he or she might remember the name of your father's ship and if it's been around recently. We can try other taverns later."

[Haspen]

@Miguel:

The arena master took the money, and then began to shuffle in a pile of papers.

"Aight, bet money is here, and for the first fight... hmm... ah yes, this fella will do. A young myrmidon guy."

"Still up fer it?"

"Well, I guess we should get going then."

Sheila and Leo went to the pier to ask around about Sheila's father.

Leo will specifically look for people who seem like they're in charge to ask.

Miguel merely nodded with grim countenance.

[Haspen]

@Leila:

No captains seen the man nor the harbor master did.

His aide, equally old, bearded, rum-smelling man, however...

"Ya mean Capt'n Thavegan? Bright green 'air, lookin' loike big damn hero of old, scorin' ladies by tens, prolly havin' few kids at least by now?"

@Miguel:

Miguel was led onto the arena. The sounds of combat reached his ears as few pairs were fighting. All this however paled with the roar of the spectators; there was hundred or so of them, drinking, snacking, and watching people get horribly dismembered for their entertainment.

The young myrmidon went onto the arena from other, nearby exit and looked at Miguel. The swordsman was young, his hair was unkept and the skin under his eyes was rather purpleish. One could easily bet he was a street rat or some such vagrant.

Without a warning, the Myrmidon attacked first! Miguel felt the blade slash his hand before he was able to counter; his lance struck deep into the swordsman's shoulder.

Miguel has 20/22HP!

Miguel counterattacks!

Then, Miguel quickly ended the duel with his lance striking the swordsman in the face. He fell with a groan. Crowds cheered as the blood gushed from the mangled body.

Duel ends. Miguel is victorious!

The nearby servant or arena guard or whoever that was quickly waved to Miguel and then took him off the blood-stained sands. The elderly horseman was taken through the same tunnel he came in, back to the Arena Master's office.

The arena master looked at the aide who came back with Miguel, and the aide nodded.

"Nice, and I thought you will get killed, sir grandpa." He quickly prepared a bag of coinage for Miguel.

"Here's five hundred. Wanna fight once more?"

As far as Sheila knew, her father had never used the name Thavegan before, but... "That sounds like it's definitely him! Did you see him recently? Do you know where he went? How did he look?"

[Haspen]

@Leila:

"Err, no, tha's the thing. Haven't seen 'im in half a year, and he an' his ship often came here every few weeks. Prolly got sunk or sumthin', but who knows." The aide explained dispassionatelly.

"O-Oh. Oh. I see. Thanks for your help." Sheila stepped away in shock, her ears ringing. So, he had survived the storm at least last year, when they'd been separated... But for him to get into a routine, and then suddenly stop? It didn't have to mean he was dead though. It didn't have to.

When the battle was over, Miguel looked upon the poor boy with intense sorrow. A fair faced youth; dead by his lance. It was his choice to be here, but it was not his choice to die. Who was his family? Who would miss this child. The aides had to half drag Miguel from the body, away from his stormy thoughts. After that battle he had no stomach for combat.

: "No... No. I have had my fill of blood today."
