The old knight twirled his lance with loud harrumph. Such fools they were! But all this talk about the arena. Miguel was always curious about it, but his own safety he steered clear of this port. Now he didn't have that reputation to keep.

: "Hmm... A tournament. Perhaps I should go and inspect the grounds. This may be a place to test my mettle and prove my worth!"

To the Arena grounds!

"Leo, do you want to look around town while we're here? It's possible someone here might know something about my dad."

"Good idea! We might as well make the most of this detour."

"Although to be fair, you're the only pirate I like being around. Still, needs must, I suppose. I'll do my best to support you."

@Miguel:

The arena was surrounded by fields of small graves, the single words speaking the names of those who have fallen on the sandy arena. The building itself was oval and had numerous arches, to which wooden platforms and staircasesare leading. Surely these are for spectators.

The entry for contestants was, suprisingly, a small door at the side of the Arena building. Inside, a small room with two clerks counting something in the corner and a man with bald, scarred head suddenly appeared in front of the cavalier.

"Oi grandpa. Spectators' seats are upstairs, you went wrong way." He said with a grin, showing that he was missing at least four teeth.

The eyes of Miguel went afire with passion.

: "Grandpa... Hmmph! I forgive your sin only upon the grounds that we have not met before! I am Miguel Cervantes of Garaz! I intend to compete in this melee of arms and valor just as soon as I learn the rules of engagement!"

[Haspen]

@Miguel:

"Heh, allrighty then. I have ten more duels to fill today. You can have three. First one would be easy, second not so much, and third would be the hardest. Bet money is 250 coins; you pay to enter, and if you win, you get double that for the first fight; triple and quadruple for next two, respectively. Oh and if you get killed, I can send a letter to ya family. Or we will just bury you outside the arena." The man nodded toward the door, speaking of the graves that surrounded the building.

"To make it fair you and your opponent will be given cheap iron weapons, nothing magical or fancy. You fight to the death, and there's no surrendering."

//You have advantage in the first fight, equal chances in second, and you're at disadvantage in the third. You gain 2x, 3x and 4x bet money per duel, respectively, plus a Level Up per victorious duel. If you drop to 0HP, you die. You will be statted w/Iron Lance (in Miguel's example).

"Still up for it, knight?"

: : "I acce- Wait... It seems I am lacking funds. One moment."

Candy felt butterflies in his stomach. But why...?

: "All-right! The game is 'Do Not Count.' Every turn, we pick a number that's one, two, or three higher than the last person. So if I picked five, you can pick six, seven, or eight. The person who picks thirty loses. Does that make sense?"

Candy laid down a bet of fifty gold coins.

: "I won't go easy on you just 'cause you're cute~ So what do you say?"

[Haspen]

@Candy:

"Hmm. Allright." He placed a small pouch on the middle of the table.

"That's forty from me. 's all I have. At the moment." He grinned.

"So who starts?"

@Miguel:

The arena master scoffed.

"Heh. Four." The man took a sip of the beer.

"Eight."

: "Nine."

[Haspen]

"Twelve."

: "Thirteen."
