"You're probably right. But I think much of my pacifistic nature comes from my training. I think if I had decided that I could have better helped people by being a defender instead of a healer..."

Leo shrugged.

"I think I would have been an OK swordsman. Things are as they are, though, and I'm happy with my current life. I just wonder sometimes, more as a thought exercise than anything. What about you, Sheila? How do you think things would have turned out if you had never been out to sea?"

[Blade Master Model 42]

"Well, I'd never have gotten this..." Sheila said sadly, pointing to the scar across her face. Her posture drooped for a moment before her characteristic energy bounced back.

"Nah, I don't regret heading out to sea. I love the sailor's life."

[SeriousConcentrate]

Leo glanced at the scar when she pointed it out, but said nothing. He didn't think it made her ugly, but she apparently did, and after the disaster with Grifen earlier he felt it best to not even talk about it. Instead he focused on the second thing she said.

"I believe you promised Grifen a story earlier. Feel like sharing one with us now?"

[Blade Master Model 42]

Sheila shrugged. "Sure, I guess. What kind of story do you want to hear, Grifen? I've got tons."

[Sirus]

: "Well, I don't much care as long as its about the sea...maybe something about buried treasure? Or sea monsters!"

[Blade Master Model 42]

"Well, daddy never had us look for buried treasure, and we were lucky enough to never be attacked by sea monsters... Sheila moved a hand through her hair, thinking. "I know! Grifen, have you ever heard of a whale?"

[Sirus]

Grifen thought for a moment.

: "I...I think so. Ain't those the giant fish that eat people?"

Sheila nodded. That sounded about right. "I saw one up close one time. Well, sort of close. I was up on deck, just taking in the sight and smell of the ocean, when there was this sort of wave, except it went up instead of over. It was maybe 50 yards off the boat, and went at least twice as high as the mast."
When it came down again, it splashed big enough that I actually got wet. "

[Sirus]

: "Whoaaa. What happened next?"

[Blade Master Model 42]

"Well, some of the crew said we should go after it, and kill it just to be safe, but daddy said it wouldn't be worth it. It didn't surface again that we saw either, so it was kind of a moot point."

[SeriousConcentrate]

(Jeez, quiet night.)

"That must have been an amazing sight. I'd like to see one myself during our next voyage."

[Sirus]

((Sorry about that. Saw BMM's post on my phone, put it down, got on my laptop later and completely forgot about writing a response :/
Also kinda waiting for Fezz to pipe up at some point.))

: "Hey yeah, that'd be pretty neat! I mean as long as it didn't try to eat us or something."

Leo turned to Fezz.

"So, what are you thinking about?"

The scholar had been quiet for some time.

Fezz was silent for a moment more, staring off into space with his brow furrowed. Slowly his face blanked, and he blinked a few times, as if forcing himself back into acknowledging reality again with each blink.

"Hm?"

He had woken up at the tail end of the production, confused as to how he went from being on a horse to suddenly being in a chair and apparently part of an audience. Regardless, he had capitalized on the time with studying his new bookmark-riddled book.

"Ah, apologies. I've been reviewing my newest acquisition. Er, that is to say, the book I bought recently. Its quite the enlightening read, as I've talked Grifen's ear off about earlier."

"Hmm... How long was I asleep? It still seems day."

[SeriousConcentrate]

"Oh... you slept through it."

Leo seemed a little disappointed, but he shook it off quickly. No point in asking Fezz his opinion on something he didn't know about.

"As you know, I know a little of magic myself, even if my specialty is healing and staves rather than tomes and offense. Would you like to discuss this book?"
