"Indeed. Sheila and I have been talking of things. Speaking of, there's something I need to tell you, and something I want to ask you."

"The first is that our next job is to escort Lady Matilda to Kretos."

"The second is that we were thinking of seeing a play, and wanted to see if any of the rest of our party would like to join us. One is starting soon. I believe it's called 'The Whispering of the Roses.' So, how about it?"

[Sirus]

: "So we're sticking with boss-lady for a while, huh? Fine with me, I guess. And I'm totally up for a play! Oh, should I bring anything? Is it fancy or somethin'?"

She was struck with an idea.

: "Fezz, ya should come along too! Shoppin can wait fer later when we actually know where stuff is."

[SeriousConcentrate]

"It seems so. As I told her father, the way Lady Matilda behaves, she might need a priest on hand. It's a little worrying to be honest."

Leo smiled and shook his head.

"No need to bring anything. We're all fine going as we are."

Grifen suggested to Fezz they shop later, and Leo nodded.

"We'd be happy to have you join us as well, Fezz. Of course, I don't want to press you into going if you'd rather not, but the option is there."

[Xanmyral]

"Sounds like a good idea to me, I haven't been to a play for a while. Long while, actually. What's it about? A historical? Tragedy? Comedy? Well, I suppose with a name like that it probably isn't a comedy. ...Maybe?" The scholar shrugged.

"So we're going to Kretos? Hm..." Fezz ponders on the name, his tired mind trying to grasp for connections. "I think there's... Some saying about that place, isn't there? I can't recall what it was, but I don't think it was a good one. Probably just hearsay though."

[SeriousConcentrate]

Leo shrugged.

"I can't say I've heard anything in particular about Kretos, except I believe that they have strong steel?"

He wasn't sure.

"...The play might be a romance. I can't say I've seen or heard of it before. All the same, it should prove to be entertaining."

[Sirus]

At the mention of the play possibly being a romance, Grifen was suddenly (but briefly) overtaken by the giggles.

: "And uh, which one of ya suggested this particular play, preacher? You or Sheila?"

[SeriousConcentrate]

"...Er, well... It's either that or 'The Silent Moon,' and Sheila wanted to see a romance, so..."

Leo scratched at his jaw for a moment. Given what the pair of them had been talking about before checking the plays, this was treading some oddly coincidental ground. He had some things to think about.

"...Well, anyway. It might not be a romance."

...We're just friends, right? A man and a woman can be just friends. I'm certain of it. And I doubt Sheila would be interested in me. My life clashes too harshly with hers; she's... open seas and freedom. I'm chapels and duty.

[Sirus]

Grifen did her best to hide further giggles from the holy man.

: "Well, I don't care much what sorta play it is. It'll still be my first, so I'm excited! Lead the way, preacher!"

[SeriousConcentrate]

Leo was still thinking when Grifen interrupted his thoughts.

"Hmm?"

"Oh, yes, of course. We're still looking around to see if anyone else would like to go, but you're quite welcome to walk with us if you'd like."

[Sirus]

: "Well, that's fair enough. Personally, I'd be pretty upset if ya didn't at least try to find me and ask."

Grifen dismounted, took Bree by the reins, and led her closer to Leo.

: "Fezz, ya can stay up there if ya like. Just don't doze off and fall."

[SeriousConcentrate]

Leo adjusted his pace so the shorter girl could easily keep up with him and Sheila. Fezz appeared to be dozing - he must have had a long night. The priest decided to speak a bit quieter so he wouldn't disturb the slumbering scholar.

"You've said before that you're from Masalla, the land of plains, and your mother was a priestess. Is the Cult of the Dragon held in high regard in your part of the world?"

[Sirus]

Grifen scratched her head nervously.

: "Er...maybe? I know the cities tend to have temples and stuff, but out on the plains...well, ya'd be lucky to find a small family shrine. Ain't got much time for prayin', no money to spare for that smelly stuff ya burn, preachers like yerself few and far between. Ma tried to introduce me to the Cult when I was younger, but..." She floundered slightly, trying to put her thoughts into words.

: "It just ain't talked about, much. I'm sure most folks believe in the Dragon and pray and stuff, but - no offense - there's usually something more important goin' on."

[SeriousConcentrate]

Leo waved off the apology. It was unnecessary.

"It's quite all right, Grifen. I'm not one to force my faith upon anyone. I was merely curious about what it's like in Masalla, and how people might respond to my presence. I've never been, you see, and I might go one day."

"You've raised horses your entire life, then?"

[Sirus]

: "Y...y'ain't? Oh. Good!"

She coughed.

: "Well, sheep mostly. The horses were mostly fer our own use, but the sheep we'd shear, butcher, milk, whatever, and sell at the bazaars I told ya about. That's how we earned money, but mostly we'd trade fer other stuff that we couldn't make on our own. I think ya'd like Masalla, preacher. It's nice and quiet fer the most part; probably perfect fer that meditatin'."

[SeriousConcentrate]

"It does sound like a nice place to retire to one day."

Leo smiled.

"I'm sure one 'preacher' would be enough for several small ranches, out there. Someone has to do all the marriage rites, at least."
