I think it is pretty likely that the first anvil was an artifact made of bone and crafted at a craftsworkshop. I like to think it was elf bone

I fully agree that anvils are the coolest artififacts  8) (even if they have no functional difference).

I concur. I especially like how the anvil has a picture of a mountain on it, and all those decorations!
Unfortunately, I am yet to get an artifact anvil, but theres always next time, eh?
