I think we get a dark minion/dark advisor if we roll a 12 though.

also about the upgrades. We should invest on a small team of corrupted technicians, engineers and scientists to work on improving our base, so we may get a list of updates like a mission list (except we need things to do upgrades).

Yes, some will eventually die, bt it would be better if we don't treat these children as minions. Hell, they aren't over 9 years old, we can't use them to fight.

Not if we inject one with Gorloceros mutagen  :P

also... can we acquire a mutagen for every living creature there is ? I mean, Psysquid mutagen is different from squid mutagen and human mutagen.

Or does additional mutagens nearly always strengthen the creature depending of your rolls ?

First of all, we should explain to Cerulean that Chemista is her grandmother now. Secondly, we should start calling the evil goo-lady "mom".

Thirdly, we should build 10 normal cogs, then corrupt the children and ask them about their abilities - there probably should be some kids who can fly or shoot lasers or something.

Lastly, we ought to talk stealthily observe Cerulean with our spypipe organ to see if the catharsis had any beneficial effect on her psychological condition.

Nah, don't call her mom, call her something like "Stepmother Of The Evil Incognito".

"Mom" would be much funnier.

That, and we will see how much tsundere is in her.

Be sure to call her "Mom" within Psysquid's earsight for extra comedy value.

I need to remember who you people are. Bay12. Spawn of DF, and prophets of Toady. The people who do things like, make kitten biscuits, or farm mermen for their bones. So yeah, go ahead.

I dunno about this. "Mom" is a title that implies authority. What if she start to think she's higher authority than us and we end up with loyalty issues just because of a little joke?
People are dumb. Chemista might not be that dumb but you never know.

-ALL THE NUMBERS to mutating the children. Leave them alone for now, it's been one day! And how the hell do you think Cerulean will react if one of them dies?

I say we start mutating/cogifying/transmogrifiying the kids very soon, like now.  Treat it as normal procedure - which in our lair, it is.  There needs be no hostility, fear, pain, or aggression.  They had one day to see how good it is here - for those who make it through the process, that's only going to continue and get better.

The mutagen procedure is not without risk.

Of course.  ~20 is a lot.  We probably are going to lose some and we probably are not going to lose them all.  We just 'lost' an unknown number of completely unknown would-have-been heroes and sidekicks, and probably more than one (maybe many more) unclassified who could not be fit into our transport.  Their deaths are no more or less 'our fault' than the deaths of those who will not make it through the transformation process.  We started this (ignorantly) unable to save all of these children.

However, if this is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE to anyone, that some of these potent kids be lost in the transformation process, then lets do the one thing we can be 100% sure of not failing to change them and keep them alive in the process.

"Now, everyone line up for your shots!" Chemista exclaims, preparing her syringe.
New Animal Unit Acquired: Beastmen.
Human+Animal=Enjoy.

This can really be quite easy.  We can make them all beastmen.  We've done it with both animal base, and human base, and neither case had any rolls.  Pure and certain success when we created the original two beast men, and when we created the snailcasters.

Now, I haven't looked lately, but the survival rates for Mooks/Monsters weren't that great.

We're also worried about what's going to happen to them as we use them on missions?  I suspect few if any of these characters are getting out of this story alive.  after all...

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Until every single dwarf is dead.

They're with us now.  They've had a great day with us - standards are satisfied and tone is set.  I say we start mutating/cogifying/transmogrifiying the kids very soon, like now.  Separate them all.  Do it.  Reunite the survivors with the rest of our fortress.  Those that don't survive go down the drain - they leave the story, having never truely entered it.

The human convulses, froth emerges from his mouth and then...then in front of your eyes his entire Dna tears apart as he becomes a...
A blob.
A mass of gelatinous blob that breaks and is quickly thrown away.

The second mutagen (as always, still Squid)

Fails. The second blob falls down on the ground and slowly goes down the drain.

It's happened before, it will happen again.  Our lair is a paradise for monsters.  Lets get these kids properly moved in, do any of you seriously think it will be better, easier, or kinder to do it 'tomorrow'?  Or next week?  Or next year?  I don't - but if you do, by all means, vote beastman for them.  We can decide on a case-by-case basis how, if, and when we include any of them in any and all future upkeeps and downkeeps.

NO. LEAVE THE KIDS ALONE YOU HERO-LIKE BASTARD.

We have a monster-exclusive organization. Besides ourselves, we have only one human in the lair: The wench, because we need PURE WENCH blood. But her life as a human in our lair is all about being locked somewhere, the only company she gets is when someone comes by to get a blood sample. Not a really good perspective to stay human in our lair.

Either they mutate/cognify, leave the lair or get locked away in solitude for the rest of their lifes.

Then let's set them up in some safehouse somewhere. We've got the cash for it and we can easily build some guardcogs for security.
