Grand Strategy GAmes
« on: August 25, 2013, 04:21:42 pm »

I have played civilization (all versions) on and off for years. Just decided to try Civ 5. I have been trying out Europa Universalis 4 demo from steam. I never really noticed 'grand strategy games' before. What types of games does this fall under. Is Aurora a grand strategy or is 4x different (have not really tried aurora, but watched some videos). What are other quality Grand Strategy Games?

Aurora is a 4x.

A grand strategy game, focus more on war rather than exploration, colonization and expansion. The term is derived from here. Individual conflicts are less important, and often battles aren't portrayed.

Everything by Paradox is worth checking out. Each series is more or less complex and focuses on different things. I'm sure you'll find something for yourself.
