well from what we know, mega-evolutions only last a few turns, and require an item to be used, so there is a definite trade-off, similar to abilities where you change your form.

the concept in itself has still to prove itself, it might be a good way to give normaly weak pokemon a spotlight (like mawile). However, the choices which pokemon get mega evolutions kinda hit's too much on the power-creep button.

Why would mewtwo, of all mons, need a boost? Same for Lucario and even worse, Blaziken. Giving a mega-evolution to a starter, is just stupid, if you are not giving one to EVERY starter. Also, they shouldn't be given to 3rd stage evolutions, rather why not simply give them out to non-evolving mones as NORMAL evolutions. Just look at Magmortar, Magnezone and all those gen1 mons that were given evolutions and tell me they don't kinda look like mega-evolutions already. Why not just keep going in that style, mawile really could need an evolution.

That being said, the designs are just over-the-top. They are really drawing on the line between pokemon and digimon. I really hope that they dont turn out competitevly viable, or at least are all so strong that they go straight into ubers, so I won't have to deal with them.

Also, DF not being complex enough? I have heard many things about DF, but it being too simple gotta be a first one.

Don't think they're competitively viable, seeing as they make certain Pokemon (Blaziken, Mewtwo) OP as is. Also, they're limited to one stone, and we're not sure if they're available more than once.

ANYWAY

To change the subject back to one that won't get the thread locked or make people upset, since if I'm brutally honest, neither of you are being understanding(webadict, I know what you're saying and felt that way at first too(still do,most of the time, I just always look up wikis before I play any game), but the way you're saying it makes it seem as though you're A. criticizing the game, which while not a bad thing in and of itself, it is 'Yucking Akroma's Yum', if you know what I mean, and B. are accusing us of not giving you the tools you need. Which in all fairness, we didn't, but being accused always makes people defensive and less willing to help. Akroma, you're essentially attacking him, saying he should know everything already, and expecting him to nderstand the basics of the game unfairly.), I think the mega evolutions are just dumb. Not just the looks but the idea behind them. Evolving mid-battle and gaining moves and such? It's just silly and ridiculous. I'd rather they just add some alternate form to some 'mons achieved with an item or special move or some such, similar to Meloetta or Darmanitan. Not make it just obviously stronger. It just seems weird to me, but I've never played gen V either, so maybe I'm just not familiar with it.

And a last bit of advice, webadict; play random battles for a while. Just do that. It'll act as a crash course, and there's no harm in losing. Unless you're really worried about competitive laser rankings, which is why there's also Unrated Random Battles. It'll work as a crash course, I found it more fun than other battles since it dumps you right in with decent moves and such, if not the most optimal, is well-balanced, and will teach you what stuff to love, fear, or hate. There are some things of course, that are different between RandBats and other meta games, but I can help you with that if you like. I'm only 15, after all. Complexity is just what I like in games, is all(though DF actually got boring because it wasn't complex enough, though that may be because I wasn't patient enough to make to my first siege.)
Oi. I'm not really into this, mostly because of the amount of knowledge it feels like I have to know. The game itself isn't all that complex. It's the knowledge behind the game that's too complex to bother with. And while I'm certain if I kept playing, I could understand it, it's just not appealing for multiple reasons. I'd much rather, er, not play this game.

Thanks for the offer, though.

ElfCollaborater: It makes the powerful ones even more powerful, but there are plenty of weak onces, but mons like Mawile could certainly take the boost and not be overpowered with it.

and even if the transformation only last like 5 turns, just as weather, that's plenty of time for a good sweep. If you can take just 2 of the opponents mons in that time, that's already pretty good.

I mean considering how some pokemon are used competitively, that's already pretty good. Some pokemon are literaly just degraded to "use focus-sash to be sure to get stealth-rock out, and then MAYBE do some attacks before it dies, like Aerodactyl in OU.

Setting up a mega-transform sweep might be a hella-tactic. I think a condition to transform is low health, so imagine belly-drum being used to get transformation in, or baton-passing boost unto a mon, that then switches into a moves that causes transformation and going to town. Such a sweep might be short-lived, and will certainly increase the amount of protect-users in the metagame, but is certainly viable

Good thing I'm up against ICBM; hopefully I haven't been holding him up with my procrastination.

Golly, folks, I thought we had a rule.

Regarding arguements: None. Don't have them.

But nobody needs to follow the rules they make, I guess. I'm getting a bad vibe from this thread. If anyone wants to Pokemon battle, just hit me up with a PM or something. I'm outtie.

I've had it with you guys

I'm going through the effort to organise a tournament and it's just complaints left and right.

First Barbarossa harasses me on PM so much I have to tell him that I no longer want him on the thread, but noooo, he goes on and on about how he just wants us to be good internet buddies, and how much fun he had in the thread, but I am still angry so I tell him no. But then I feel all guilty and tell him oh well, have another chance, just stop harassing me via PM, and he has his second chance, hurrah.

and now this.

first thread, arguement about the thing being too competitive, now second thread argueing about the whole thing not hand-holding the beginners and giving them everything on a silver plater, and here is mr. *but I had so much fun, and I just want to get on good terms with you again*, quote: I want to hang out with Bay12 while playing Pokemon, and I don't see why a small argument between the two of us should stop that, and just shits all over it again.

screw you guys, thread over, everyone go home. As a person, I am too susceptile to passive aggressive guys shitting up the thread that I am putting up so much effort for to simply ignore them shitting all over my work. You guys just grab the game and fight NPCs, I am not gonna try and balance this chicken basket any longer.

I've tried my best to make every player enjoy, helped with team-building, answered every question on thread and via PM, and everybody just blames when I tell off the ones that I happen to not want in the thread. fine then, blame me

perfect option I guess. No more pressure on me to keep the thread running, no more effort to meet everyones needs, and if anyone starts being blamed for not everything being as everyone wants it, it's elf. man, I can hardly imagine how that will be, such a relief

Well, I don't mind being blamed for it. Just the consquence of running a game over the internet, I guess.

For anyone still interested, the game link is here:

I have no idea what you're talking about, but private messages are private and it's somewhat bad form to talk about them in public.

I, too, attempted to arrive at an amicable situation and was told I have some sort of mental disability. I am under the impression that it did not, in fact, come to an amicable situation.
