First tournament: Enough of the Mono-Type already, that's the old thread. The new thread starts of with THEMED teams.

here, have some choices:

- Red pokemon
- Blue pokemon
- Yellow pokemon
- Green pokemon
- Purple pokemon
- Orange pokemon
- Black pokemon
- Pink pokemon
- White pokemon
- Grey pokemon
- Mammals
- Reptiles
- Fish
- Amphibians
- Birds
- Insects
- Mustaches
- Pokemon that probably taste good
- Pokemon that probably think you taste good
- Dogs
- Cats
- Farm animals
- Humans in costumes
- Dwarf Fortress
- Fossils
- Sharp and pointy
- Fluffy and soft
- Dark and edgy
- Blandest pokemon since bland came to bland town
- SCIENCE!
- the gayest team
- 7 deadly sins
- ultimate furry-bait
- inanimate objects
- Noodley appendages
- too many appendages
- no appendages
- Indiana Jones
- Teamfortress 2
- A movie of your choice
- A game of your choice
- So very tired
- You mad bro? Why you so mad bro?
- ULTIMATE MANLY TEAM
- refined gentlemen
- Hobo team
- Circus is in town
- Gambling addiction
- Rated Y for young audiences
- Rated MA for mature audiences
- Pokemon that are just normal animals, mostly
- geometrical shapes
- If Jesus was a pokemon trainer
- If Buddha was a pokemon trainer
- Suicide team
- 'MURICA!
- Jungle
- Desert
- Swamp
- Plains
- Tropical
- Summer
- Winter
- Spring
- Autumn
- Cave
- Huge
- Tiny

...I think that list will do

note, these are just suggestions, ANY theme may go if you have any more ideas (unless the theme is Pokemon that are very strong and always win ;P). Color-coded teams include shinies

Please post your teams and explain why each pokemon fits the theme. If the thread decides that a mon doesn't fit the theme, a replacement is needed, so try and go with the theme, instead of shoe-horning the theme somehow unto the best and strongest. This is not competetive.

Note that if you choose to go with the option of changing your team upon losing, you may also change the theme

Team myth-No legendary Pokémon, every mon has to be based on a real world legend or myth.

Lapras-Based on the Lock Ness monster
Houndoom-Based on Cerberus and every other hellhound story.
Lucario-Based on Anubis or if not allow, Skarmory-based on Stymphalian birds
Exeggutor-Based on a Jinmenju
Sableye-Based on the Hopkinsville Goblin
Torterra-Based on World Turtles from many mythologies and the disc world novels.

sounds good. Lucario seems pretty anubis to me.

I think I will be going with "You mad bro"

Whimsicott - pretty obvious choice here. Prankster with status moves and subseeding options can pop blood vessel with rage
Jirachi - very good defensive typing, alongside the infamous serene grace ability makes for a deadly para-flinch set. basicaly cheesing your way to victory. ragequits left right and center
Sableeye - basicaly the same as whimsicott, Prankster with status and recover, also no weaknesses. People be raging
Gliscor - with poison-heal, Gliscor is just bordering unfair. stalling all day, everyday
Chansey - the infamous wall of "no you don't". nearly endless stalling abilities, and with wish the ability to basicaly revive any of the other annoyers make it a prime-annoyer.
Skarmory - like Chansey, but in the physical department. lays out them spikes and rocks, and then just shuffles the enemy around, a cheesy tactic that leaves people raging.

side-board: Ferrothorn - is equipped with a rocky helmet, it's a perfect switch-in into almost any physical attack, often the opponent will take more damage from attacking ferrothorn than Ferrothorn takes from that attack. If Sable-eye set that physical attacker on fire and/or leech seed is on, if the enemy holds a life-orb or is doing a recoil attack, the punishment for attacking ferrothorn can be ridiculous. I HATE ferrothorns that are played like this.

it's a first draft. I am aware that a team that is built upon "annoy the fuck out of the other player" might, well, annoy everyone, so I am willing to take a different team, should this team be too good at what the theme suggests

I am still stuck between the choices "you mad bro", "fluffy and soft" and "pokemon that probably taste good"

all have some fun choices
I was tempted to do team Wait, what?-6 magicarps since the 'no doubles' rule was missing, but Houndoom called out to me.

- Species Clause. Only one mon per pokedex number, for versatility. Negotations may be made in themed tournaments.

it's not missing

if you look around, you will notice you are right at home with that level of skill. Give it a try, it's not about winning, and I'll see ot it that you aren't paired off against the top players from the getgo. And with everyone using themed teams, nobody will have really strong ones anyway

same pokedex number. so same pokemon. If your theme is "inanimate objects" I suppose it's fine though

Right, I'm willing to give this a go.

However, I'd advise placing a new rule: NO DISCUSSING THE META.
