Shiny Loot hosting DF?
« on: August 21, 2013, 09:27:54 pm »

http://www.shinyloot.com/dwarf-fortress?re=games-under-5-53

Saw a thing about some new gog-like website and i glanced at it and noticed DF on the page right off the bat.
I assume Toady isn't okay with other people hosting DF downloads and just thought id draw attention to it.

Readme says it can be redistributed, as long as it's done so free of charge and unmodified.  I haven't tried to download to make sure it's unmodified, because I don't want to make an account, but from the description and the reviews complaining about the lack of graphics, It doesn't sound like it is.  So I don't see anything going on against the rules in the readme at least.

In my opinion it's unlikely to be a bad thing, advertisement is advertisement.  Be nice if they put a bay 12 link up there someplace, but it's ultimately Toady and TT's decision.  Good bringing attention though to it though.

They have a pretty interesting feature list, there.

I felt bad that all the reviews were complaining about the graphics, so I made my own one hailing the great aspects of the game, like moddability, and the fact that it is slowly getting to the point of simulating reality itself. And that, despite how awesome it already is, it is not even in alpha yet.

LOOT FOR THE LOOT THRONE!

You seem to be under the impression that we're playing some game other than dwarf fortress. It doesn't matter how powerful you make a creature, we will find a way to destroy it. God is dead, and Urist killed him.

That list is copied from the official feature list, but they skipped the best part.

I wonder if the game has become odd.
