Okay seriously, it's Early Spring of 252 now. Would anyone like a turn on the fort now? And if so how do I go about passing it?

Not enough happened for a full entry like I've been doing, but I don't want to cut into anyone's turn if there's going to be turns.

Uuuummm... I've got no experience with the masterwork dwarves whatsoever, but I can surely try.

Maybe change the title of the thread to: SteelyCathedrals - Glacier Succession Fort - Players Wanted!

Otherwise people dont know that you are looking for someone. ;) I'd play, but its super slow on the netbook, and I rather mod with that time. ^^

Okay, but I still have no idea how to go about handing it to someone... Do I like, copy the region folder or something? Or is there a specific file within the region folder?

I don't mind continuing it myself, but I have a bad habit of getting bored and killing everything before the first siege. That wouldn't be nearly as entertaining as an actual complete game.

EDIT: Okay, that did not work.

How do I change the title?

You need to edit the first post, only changing the title.

You can try DFFD, Mediafire or Dropbox. You go the dwarffortress/data/save/region-whatever, pack the entire region folder into a zip or rar file, and upload it. Then post the link. Usually people post the stocksscreen and unit list, and say a little bit about what the next player should look out for.

SC ML 13:

I quit! Recording every little thing is just too stressful for a simple fisher/farmerdwarf like me! I'm leaving this last report mostly as a courtesy for the next poor shmuck that gets this job so they don't bother me about it next week.

Everyone has their own rooms now of course, we likely won't be needing half of them soon, since everyone's been getting romantic with eachother for the duration of our stay in this (admittedly pleasant) hellhole of ours. The communal dining hall also has enough chairs for everyone, but it still looks a little empty for how large it was carved. The hospital has beds, tables for operating and coffers for supplies; though the room hasn't officially been designated as a hospital per se, because that would require appropriating valued supplies that we don't have at the moment.

Meph finished digging her cathedral out, and has begun smelting the galena we've acquired in the process of building it. She's also claimed a pair of totems to begin religious services immediately. I told her no life sacrifices without the permission of the sacrifice themselves and a noble and she seemed to agree, at least, she didn't say she disagreed.

Lastly, the caravan never showed up. I don't think anyone in the mountainhome expects us to survive this thing, well to hell with them! This just means we can keep all the treasure to ourselves! So what if we're surrounded by orcs and goblins and warlocks and giants and oh gods I need a drink...

There actually was a caravan that I just ignored for story purposes, but IIRC from a world where dwarves died out, the first one always shows up with the 2 migrant waves. The pre-embark screen said there should be no trade with any of the friendly races including dwarves.

Here's the save:

Well, an overseer list should be made for organization's sake. I think I can take this turn, anyway.

Introduction and screenshots:
*Sad music in the background, low tone of voice* My name's Apani Coupledgates, and I'm - an overseer, will my short companions say straightaway. No, you are wrong. I'm a Carpenter. That's what I used to be, at least. Buried beneath the earth, under the snow, I'm just a dwarf like another, carrying stones to make something out of them.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I never had too much work. I spent most of my time in the meeting halls, which is just a fancy name for a corridor flanked by miscellaneous workshops. Unsurprisingly, I didn't make a lot of friends, either. I was in the upper floor stockpile, taking... stone, to make mechanism, when the word arrived. Deeves, the previous overseer had retired. There was panic. Not really. But I offered to replace him. When there is no other use for my real abilities, maybe it's best to oversee. *Sad music ends*
Tour of the fortress:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
First floor, animals pastured on the snowy grass at left, animals pastured in the main hallway in the center, animals pastured on the crops, animals pastured on the stockpiles... Stockpiling stone here must be a bad idea, with all the workshops being underneath, this is just wasted time.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Fishing pond. Not much to describe or see here.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Various stockpiles, stones, gems, ammo, armors, refuse, and a butchery.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Various workshops, a dormitory, several quarters, a dining hall, barracks presumably and a room with beds and tables and a cabinet whose purpose I can't fathom. I guess I'll turn it into an hospital after moving the beds next to the tables. I also made a stone stockpile near the workshops, where it has sense for it to be. But maybe I should just move the workshops upstairs. There's also the Church of whatever, but it's empty currently. I'll show it when it'll be worth it.

I am going to reorganize this place, there are so many thing to do! Reports tell me about animals fighting with eachother and even attacking citiziens due to overcrowding, I must intervene! I immediatedly order to enlarge the pasture (and I mean the one covered in grass, not the one placed over the freaking stockpiles). Meph comes, digs a little, then goes to the stone stockpile, picks the heaviest rock, and hauls it to the lower floor. I guess she really loves her freaking stones. Meanwhile, I order the room with beds and tables and a cabinet and whatever to serve as an hospital, bringing the beds next to the tables. I also order to build a cage trap hallway on the surface. Deeves dives straight into an hospital bed. I delete all meeting areas, leaving only the dining hall for that purpose. I set every quarter's door to be internal and resize them, so that it's added to the room's value. I take a look at the cathedral, there are two shrines in construction. I order to cancel the construction and smooth the floors first, because I am a maniac of details. I just realized that we have no water to give to patients, we'll have to pray Armok. Migrants come, it was an horde, we are thirty-eight now. And among them there are two adept and "talented" carpenters. Does that mean I have no talent? I don't even remember how a wooden bed feels anymore. It's amazing to see how many fishermen we have, I'm not even trying to organize them, but I made sure there is only one guy allowed for quality-related jobs. Prayers were successful, and now we have a bucket full of water. For the poor Deeves, we're also going to need some thread and cloth. Since we have nothing to shear, according to my farmer, we are going to need to pray again. I order the new carpenter to make cages. Sigh - If I'm not even a carpenter anymore, at least I'll be the one to load the traps with them. Anyway, talking about Carpentry, I am really looking forward to these Fungi Trees. To make use of them we need a Sawmill, with a Large, Serrated Disc. I'm not expert of Large, Serrated Discs, but I guess a silver one will be fine. Then I notice that there is a red zircon encrusted in the Dining Hall wall. I order it to be smoothed, we'll see if we get a fine room then. A Kobold thief shown up. He got shot in the chest by a ranger, and ran off. Now we have a red hatch cover. Elves have arrived. I was told by Deeves there are no such things as trading here, but when they claimed to have a Stray Tigerman Spinner, I couldn't just ignore them.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I think need a drink. Those folks better build a trade depot out there.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Wait, what are they doing? Oh my god, they're freaking robbing the merchants! I've just tried to mass forbid their goods, but to no avail.
... I need a freaking drink.

The citizien list:

PS: What do I see, two Urists! :D

LOL, Did they seriously do that on their own? I should embark on [NO TRADE] sites more often.  :D

Yes. They just thought that robbing a Forest Spider of the items carried on its back was good idea.

YOU SHALL NOT PASS challenge!

Make a 2 tile wide walkway into your fort above a lava lake and have it destroyed when a Balorg tries to pass it

The Banners of Heart has already the bridge on a volcano, as the main entrance nevertheless. You should talk to them. :P They even named the technique "Bowsering".
