What materials are magma resistant/last longest against
« on: March 01, 2008, 07:20:00 pm »

I have heard different materials (such as rock, iron and steel) melt after a certain time in contact with magma. Which lasts the longest/is not affected?

I think bauxite is the best material for magmasafe buildings, floodgates etc.

Most people don't make adamantine floodgates I suppose. Thanks!

Heat ruins the mechanisms in floodgates, so bauxite is used to make those mechanisms. However, temperature doesn't currently affect constructed objects.

Yeah, you can make walls, floors, bridges, etc. out of any rock, metal or metal (I think) and they will not be burned up by magma.  I am pretty sure that magma will burn up wooden constructions, though.  However, if you make a floodgate with a mechanism attached, the mechanism must be bauxite or adamantine... otherwise the mechanism (which is not a construction, but an item, I guess?) will burn up, and the floodgate will be ruined.
