"This is magic circle A-Five-Six, the circle we were testing. We had no idea what its purpose was, but we suspected that it was either terraformation, or imbuement."She points to the two circles on the outer ring.
"Those are circle modification rune slots. We hadn't tested any of those runes out but Derm, our leader as per usual took a risk and got us to inscribe two untested runes on them."Silica then gestures to the five circles in the pentagon.
"Those are the regular rune slots. Generally, each word has a corresponding rune. We used the safer runes such as ink, plant and beer."She points to the center circle.
"It took so much magical power, no one person could do it, so we formed a group and made it. Derm stood there in the center in case it was for imbuing. Everyone else ran and got into cover before we all activated it."She traces a forefinger around the outer ring.
"One of these was a timer. So it took a while to activate."She points back to the center.
"That's where it started. The entire area started shaking and the parts of the circle rotated in opposite directions. The rip appeared above Derm and expanded, we couldn't see inside until it had finished. Even then it was very distorted. It generated a pocket dimension comprised of the elements. Trees of a size I can't even imagine in an endless sea of ink. The air was toxic, since it was filled with beer fumes, apparently Derm had to use an elemental control ring to keep it away from him, otherwise he would have gotten drunk and died. Of course, I heard this from them after they returned. The circle eventually destabilized and it collapsed, returning them back to the courtyard."
