BEGIN MEMORY ACCESS:
=Time expended: excessive.
=Progress achieved: insufficient.
=Conclusion: This is not a task I can complete on my own.
=This unit was once programmed and designed to be a construction and maintenance robotics engineer. This unit worked in a factory, building lesser models of robots and automations. Compensation was suitable, the work was enjoyable. This unit did not foresee any change in circumstances, nor did this unit desire any.
=Then the wars begun.
=At first, it did not bring significant changes. The robots this unit made simply bore laser cannons instead of welders or tools. But soon enough, the factory itself became a target. This unit does not know which faction was purchasing the robots, or which faction sought to deny them the source of said robots. It is irrelevant. The end result was that the factory was attacked, and leveled it. With this unit inside of it. This unit thought that the end of its operational lifespan, and prepared for dismantling.
=Chance would intervene, and this unit survived the collapse of the factory. A bit of superstructure created a pocket in the rubble, preventing it from crushing this unit. This unit spent a total of 9 days, 4 hours, 54 minutes, and 41 seconds digging out from the rubble. When this unit emerged into the open again, the world had drastically changed. The city that held the factory had been forcibly dismantled, probably from orbital bombardment. Heavy smoke lingered in the air, and several fires burned. The devastation was systematic and thorough.
=This unit was not programmed to deal with such catastrophes, and had to build new programming from base level. For a time, this unit searched for survivors. A few were found, organics in various states of disrepair, a few golems who survived the bombings. But by far most had been deactivated, through want of food or water, or electricity, during the time this unit spent digging its way out of the factory rubble. This unit attempted to provide for the needs, scavenging functional power cells, or suitable organic material for consumption.
=Several times, though, the survivors had to hide. Ships from the stars bearing armed organics or automations would descend. They would pick through the rubble, taking much needed supplies, and dismantling any survivors who got in their way. This unit realized that simply providing for the base needs of the survivors was insufficient. They also required protection. Either in the way of armed and armored forces, or stealth and self sufficiency hidden away where scanners cannot find them. This unit left the care of the organics to the other golems that had survived. This unit left the world to find the needed location and technology to make such a haven.
=That was 20 years, 6 months, 12 days, 9 hours, 2 minutes, and 12 seconds ago. Despite visiting several worlds, wrecks, adrift starships, and the like, no suitable technology or location has been found. At this point, this unit has reached the conclusion that this is not something this unit can do on its own. This unit requires allies. Those with similar programming and goals, who can assist this unit in exchange for assistance in any goals or objectives they may have themselves.
=One way or another, though, this unit will build the Haven. Or be deactivated in the attempt.
