Adrian

You take a deep breath. And nearly puke. The small fishing quay of Trinicria smells of Urine, Excrements and rotten fish.

[6] You came to this land very much prepared. Outfitted with your Book of Faith. A Guide and a flock of faithful Novices you set out to bring the Only True Faith to the Blackwater Coast.

Adrian holds his nose for a moment and closes his eyes, trying to fight back the putrid smell of the pier. Slowly he relaxes... The smell is just wind, he bends to it, letting it pass. He opens his eyes again, once again focussed and calm. He watches the common folk doing their work, before he gracefully nods to his followers, motioning them to follow him as he begins to walk towards the city, watching the guide intently, before asking in a quiet voice, a hint of an outlandish accent hearable "What should I know about this city?"

You start opening buttons on the guides jacket and are nearly down to his trousers when he notices what you are doing.

"What the Hell is wrong with you?"

Your second try to take up contact with the guide works far better.

[6] " T'is ,good sir, is Trinicria One of the Five City States of the Blackwater Coast. The Lands of Trinicria were originally belonging to the Emprie of Heltania. After it's decline it was for many years lawless land until the great Colonization Ventures of the Kol Empire. During this Time it was an Important Trade Node and Garrison City for the Kolessian Legions. That was of course Centuries ago. Now Trinicria has barely thirty thousand inhabitants and is some quite backwater.

It's many well known Wineyards have been turned into wheatfields and The most famous border citadel, has been turned into a small wooden fort.
More in your interest should be however its Religion.

Trinicria followed for many years the Heltanian Faith, A Polytheistic Religion build around the God Worship of the First Emperor Numisius. Following the Heltanian Empire and up until the Arrival of the Kolessians, the Heltanian faith devolved into a form of ancestor and spirit worship. With the Arrival of the Kolessians however all Remnants of Religious Organization were purged. As you propably well know the Kol Empire was strictly Misotheistic and exterminated any form of Organized Religion. Right now the people of Trinicria either follow no Faith or worship some vague spirits resembling Numisius and the Heltanian Pantheon.

I can give you more information if you are a wee bit more specific."

Adrian closes his eyes as the man starts to talk, listening intently. No faith or just vague spirits? Empty minds, willing to be filled... Or a crude resistance to the faith, depending how the persons are. He thinks for a moment, before opening his eyes again.
"Yes, I have some more questions...

Tell me more about the Heltanian Faith, my friend. You said it has more than one god? I thought only the Emperor Numisius is a deity... And is it still present on the Blackwater Coast? I would like a dispute with some priests of this heathen religion... The dialouge is the most holy way to gain knowledge, as the Redemeer says.

Also, Trinicria has around thirty thousand souls living in it, yes? Who rules over these people? Please, explain me their government a bit more... I would be also glad if you could try and arrange a meeting with their... Lord?

And... Do you know if preaching is allowed and under the protection of the law in these lands?"

"Well my friend Trinicria is ruled by the Duke Frederic Visarian, it's a Duchy. I think you need to talk with the Duke whether preaching is allwoed...well i've never seen anybody being dragged off for it. But those were all soothsayers of the Heltanic Paganism.

Well the Heltanian faith has some four or five gods...im not learned in these things. The Emperor is dead but one of his descendants rules Heltania. I think his name was Samus? The XV? No idea actually."

Heltanian Empire

[2+1] The Trade General reacts poorly to your Soothing and flattering but he doesnt seem overly angry.

"Nonetheless i will stay a few weeks in your city and watch the marvel you humans call "Ships".

With that he is carried out of your throneroom.

With the help of the Mercenary Captain your troops are soon marching in order and actually looking less ridiculous, although they still are in a very poor shape in comparison to the Trade Generals Personal Guard.

10 x Talrius City Guard Companies (1.000, Levy, Simple, Basic, Recruits) = +0,25 Ducats Per Season

Duchy of Trinicria

[6] Good News! The Scouts report that the land is extremely fertile, free of wandering bandits and dangerous wildlife and below the hills the Dwarven Parties won't patrol. The Thin Forests turn out to be Prime Timber. If you harvest it and put somebody with actual knowledge to it he might make it useful as a Strategic Rescource.
However the Dwarves might not be amused that you claim Land that actuall belongs to them. This may lead to severe repercussions.

"Hello?"

"Frederic Visarian... An interesting name. Very well. I thank you for the information. Could you lead me to his... palace? I do want to request an audience by him."

Try to get a little talk with the duke.

Alexis frowns.

"What city is this? And where can I find its most prominent people?"

After a short walk to the upper district, you are ushered into the Ducal Palace in the city. Resembling an opulent residence rather than a feudal fortress, the court of Trinicria prized itself on its cultured setting, albeit crumbling decorations and bleak walls are telltale signs of long-standing decay.

You are led to a throne room, where where young duke was awaiting.

"Welcome in my court, traveler. What brings you to me?"

Adrian watches the young man for a moment with stern eyes, before he smiles softly, kneeling in front of him, bowing his head in front of the local ruler.

"I extend my humble greetings, milord. I am Adrian Divenos, vocus of the Redeemer, his voice and ears on this plane. I am here to ask for permission to preach His word in your domain."

The priest, clad in a black robe, made of fine wool, a left hand with an eye in its palm stitched on the shoulders, a tome in his right hand, still looks to the ground with a small smile, eyes closed, awaiting an answer.

Frederic stares at the preacher for a short moment, before waving his hand lazily.

"You have my permission and you are free to follow and spread whatever practices you may have, as long as they do not upset  the laws of this country."

Young duke's apparent ambivalence about religion was apparent here. He did not present any negative stance towards you however.
