I suggest bringing them to us, or at the least staying out of the ballista's range. Going inside of it would be a bad idea unless you fancy wanting to hope you dodge. The ballista only has five shots though, so that is a tactic if you want to get rid of it since if you can scurry to a forest tile and already have good evasion you might be able to be okay.

But it's a 'hey I'll go let them shoot at me until they run out of ammo' kind of idea which, well, isn't a good one.

Well, if we had a knight it would not be bad. That's what I actually did in the fire emblem games, but as it stands, yeah we don't want to risk that.  although eventually we will have to, even if we kill the rest of them first
