Backstory: Born in a semi-rural aria of the Troian empire, Maible’s parents, Sasha and Faern were known as two of the better swordsmasters of their time. Much to their disappointment, their daughter had no interest in practicing swordplay, instead reading books and other academic prospects. They managed to get her to try the blade occasionally, but always it was as the price of a new book or other such thing. Once in her teens, she started doing odd jobs around the town, and used the money to pay for what her parents were using to bribe her to practice with swords. To the eternal disappointment of Sasha and Faern, Maible picked up magic like one born to it, almost as good at it as she was horrible with swords of all types. Her parents gave up trying to force her into their mould, but they also told her to find her own way in the world. This lead her to offering magical firepower to a recently formed mercenary troupe. Her parents did get one lesson across to her though, that being able to work with your team is more important than being the best.

Bio:
A young woman from the plains of Masalla, Grifen works with her rather large extended family to raise herds of sheep. Though not nomads by the normal definition, the plains are large and sheep need plenty of room to roam, and so everyone in the family learns to ride horses almost as soon as they can walk. A sheep herd without shepherds is easy prey to bandits and wolves, and so they often learn how to use bows or other weapons as well.
Her father, Herman Shacklebreak, is the current head of the "clan", and has kept it safe and prosperous for many years. Her mother Ada is a troubadour who helped Herman defeat a cartel of slavers 18 years ago, in a minor "war" which cemented their relationship. The two married just a year later.
Grifen herself is a cheerful woman who takes her duties seriously. She's been using a bow for many years and is considered to be fairly skilled with one, though she prefers the toy crossbow her uncle Rufus made for her. She also shows potential with magic and healing staffs, though she has yet to successfully use either. Instead, she practices herbal healing techniques, boosting the effects of medicine with home remedies or treating minor scrapes with a variety of poultices.
Grifen is scared of the dark due to a childhood incident, and so prefers to stay as close to sources of light as possible. She also believes in various creatures and monsters, and does her best to warn her comrades of the "danger" they pose.

Few priests are ever described as 'ragamuffins,' but Leopoldo is one of those proud few. A generally upbeat and optimistic fellow despite coming from extremely poor origins in his homeland of the Troian Empire, he joined the priesthood in the monastery of Ironmill to learn how to better help his fellow man. He's not bitter about his past; rather, it opened him up to the depths of how the common man can both suffer and endure anything, and his mission in life is to ease as many people's path through it as he can.
As for him being a ragamuffin, well, just look at him. Leo's a rather thin guy though he's healthy, and he's not the biggest twenty-year-old around at only five feet eight inches. His brown hair, although kept clean, is left to do as it will, growing thick, soft, and shaggy. His blue eyes are large and vibrant with an inner joy to be alive. He wears the colors of Ironmill: a white high-collared jacket closed across the front with gold-trim clasps, white pants tucked into brown traveling boots, brown gloves, a blue heraldic coat with gold trim along the neck and shoulders with the profile of a dragon in gold across the chest, and a red cape that hangs down to his ankles. His most prized possession is a coin of the Emperor that was mistakenly printed with the Emperor's profile on both sides instead of one. He claims it brings him luck.
Unknown to him, his parents were so poor that when he and his (younger) twin brother were born, they were unable to care for both of them. His brother was given to a traveling old scholar who knew the Belmonte family, and Leopoldo has not yet learned of his existence... but he does 'feel' him from time to time, in a vague way. Despite his cheerful demeanor, there are times when Leo will find himself feeling unreasonably angry or afraid, and he doesn't know why. The reason is Fezz is experiencing these emotions very strongly at the same time.
As for his current situation, he has left Ironmill to travel and do what he can for the people of the world, to ease their pain and relieve their suffering.
