I am thinking that Rolepgeek is talking about the Mage Knight's class ability, can't remember what it is called, and I don't have the book available at the moment

You really can both sig it.
But... That would break the laws of sigging! We can't have everyone running around with the same quotes. IT MAKES THEM UNFUNNY FASTER!

Regardless, I'd assume Haspen would not let it be added to a crossbow's MT.

Crossbows are special, and don't get statistic modification to their DAM output. So, no.

That's the main reason Grifen will use crossbows. She has terrible STR and little growth, but crossbows have nice high Might to make up for it.

@Sirus: They're also pretty dang heavy though, to make up for that. They have more range flexibility than normal bows too, because normal bows are just sad really.

@Role: Your call really. I personally dislike the regular bows because they only have a range of two compared to crossbows which has a range of one and two, and long bows which has a range of two and three. Normal bows however have a higher critical weight and are the lightest of the two.

All of this assuming you keep the bow route really.

We already have a mounted archer. Besides, magic already gives you range. I'd suggest a physical weapon, to allow you take advantage of the weapon triangle.

Do we have a physical weapon underrepresented?

@ Xan: Being mounted negates the weight problem by quite a bit thankfully, and her Speed is nice and high. Besides, with her Nomad bonus to MOV after attacking and the crossbow's flexible range, she should be staying away from incoming attacks and counterattacks as much as possible.

And all of them, I think. We're a pretty magic-heavy group at the moment :o

We're pretty balanced in the physical weapon department, two bows, two swords, one lance, one axe. What I'd suggest though is a good defensive tank, maybe a Knight/Soldier or a beefy Fighter.

@ Sirus: Apparently, being mounted doesn't actually help.

@ Blade: I don't get magic until I'm a Mage Knight, actually. That's the issue.

Actually no, being mounted just makes you harder to rescue as it raises the hidden 'weight' stat. The prevalent idea that being mounted increases your CON is mostly because Haspen lists it as doing so in the character sheets, but that isn't the case as to how the rules actually play out if one were to look at the mage knight in FEF 1 or any other mounted unit with a weapon above their non-mounted CON. I assume he does so because the sheet would look weird if he added another stat.

I might make a Knight, I suppose. I don't get to be the Bard-Daeth after all.

The removal of Armored sucks though.

That doesn't make any sense at all. Being mounted is supposed to increase your CON. Wasn't there a big debate over how useless the AID stat was because you could use CON in exactly the same way?

I always figured that "weight" was just a typo because it isn't used anywhere else in the book except when referring to weapons.

No, being mounted does not increase your CON for purposes of battle, only rescuing. It's a weird thing FE did, and it's carried over into FEF. If that weren't the case, you'd see Pegasus Knights wielding Steel Lances without a dip in Evasion.
