Birdy, please do not go haring off on your own. If any of us are going to split, we should do a more even split. If most people really want that, we can send some people that way, but I'm really not a fan. Remember that the allies move after the enemies, so even if he does come support you, it will be after enemies have moved. While you technically have enough HP to take on all the attacks, there's nothing saying that you'll not take any crits or anything like that.  :/

First, I accounted for crits. 1% Chance of a Tomahawk critting is the big crit that Miguel needs to watch out for. That will end him, no questions asked. The second threat is the halberdier, who crits at 3%. Him doing 12 or 16 on the only attack he gets would hurt. Otherwise, I'm not especially worried, since the General Unit can't crit and the Swordmaster's crits are for pennies. It's a bit more likely that if one does attack, it's likely that the Swordsmaster will end up the gibbed instead.

Secondly, I have absolutely no intention of going further down the hallway than what is necessary. My perogative is getting a wall of beef in front of our valuable mage squad and killing off any chance of getting attacked from behind. I accept what you're saying about splitting up and I agree with you, but I don't want to lose any mages to an attack from the eastern hallway.

I didn't ask her ICly, but with just Fyra and Carlinn as back up, I have a feeling that we'd be able to wipe the enemy while the rest of the force plows onward with the mages in tow.

Birdy... every single FEF death, whether or not it actually counted, was caused by splitting the party. Every single one. Plus if you get in trouble we have to stall OUR advance to bail you out.

Birdy please just stay with the party. The mages won't be getting attacked right away anyways, so we can tell them to not be idiots too.

I just want to point out that this fear of splitting the party resulting in PC death has only produced dead characters when we were first class and had no access to physic. I also feel the need to continue pointing out that we have a HUGE group and travelling all together is going to result in half of our units being incapable of doing anything.

That won't change if we split up, though. We'll instead have two large groups of mixed PCs and NPCs, who do not go at the same time and can get in each other's way. And we'll still get clogged up somewhat.

The point of NPCs and PCs moving at different times is a very good point. We won't get to move at the same time and I'll point to fef4 where we had major issues with getting past NPCs, etc. We're not here to hide behind NPCs and we're not here to die.

That's not at all a good point. Every mage on our team has long ranged weaponry at their disposal. Some of them, like the Aeromancers and the Bishops, would have to try to get in our way. In the case of Carlinn, we want him in between us and the enemy. That man is a tank! We should be using him.

At any rate, I am going along with the overall plan. I think on the whole we should travel as a group. However, when we are threatened on more than one side, we need to react to that threat. Eventually, we'd have to deal with the Eastern Hallway. I'm just doing so now, as opposed to putting off later where the enemy will have advantageous tiles to work with.

Birdy: That's why we're planning to maybe have the NPCs take the eastern hallway. They'll clear it on their own good time, hopefully.

You're not going along with the plan. You're doing what you want and ignoring the plan. You're putting yourself at risk and putting an army of NPCs between you and the rest of the group. The NPCs can take care of themselves, they don't need you to go sit by yourself. We *don't* want the NPCs as our front line. The General can tank the enemies attacking from the back, and as you so nicely pointed out, the mages have a mix of long range and short range weapons which means they can stage themselves so they aren't taking major damage. We *are* using the General, just not in the way that you seem to think is best.
