So, just yesterday I came across this which I think might be interesting to a few people here. There may be some interesting bits to shamelessly steal and integrate springboard possible additions in our FEF.
Obviously not quite designed to work with FEF rules (lack of weapon subcategories, for one thing), but some interesting stuff there. Wouldn't mind including laguz characters just for a change of pace. And I certainly plan to implement shoving in some theoretical, far-future FEF.

Laguz are the bunny-looking things, right?

Eh, in the Gamecube games there were cat, tiger, raven, heron, and dragon laguz. As far as I know the only bunny laguz is in Awakening.

Technically the Taguel are more closer to the Manaketes in terms of function, though they are implied to be distant descendants of the laguz though.

The idea is that humans, being the obvious 'average of everything blah blah', would have all caps at 30.

Other races, for example, 'frail magical race' would have higher MAG and RES cap, but lower HP and DEF cap. An 'agile furry/feral race' would have higher SPD and SKL caps, but lower MAG and STR caps, et cetera.

And I'm not talking about +/-1 or something, but up to 4-5 points even.

Of course I will develop the idea when I do feel like including some races, not earlier :P

EDIT: And extra tidbit that some races would ahve slightly lowered/increased CON as well, to further point out body structure changes!

That's been a pretty standard trope in most fantasy games, just not Fire Emblem. Y'know, elves are good with magic or bows, dwarves are hefty and tough, humans are catch-all's...

Sounds reasonable, if standard. To be honest I'm kinda tired of humans being treated as the benchmark for other sapient species, maybe have humans be a race with increased SKL and Weapon Proficiencies, to represent adaptive tool usage? Or just better proficiencies, I suppose. It would give them something that stands out a bit.

If you give humans SKL, maybe the agile race can instead have a +1 to MOV or something.

EDIT: As a note for future reference, don't expect me to be active for much of the rest of the day beyond odd comments, I have work to catch up on.

I know all that v:

That's why I said I will develop this idea when I will feel like adding races proper. For now it's just talk.

I don't complain about Humans being the benchmark, typically because I only choose human races in games.

Still, it would be pretty cool to have humans being the longer-lasting, more agile counterpart. As Furt said, we kind of are built for that sort of dexterity.

Well I could draw parallels from out venerable ancestors being apes, so that's STR+SKL? :P

And giantitp forums are giving me headache. No search function and 5 different forums for 5 different kind of RP/gaming/OOC/Worldbulding? Gooods, how do they navigate that place I:

Even SerenesForest forums look user friendly and easy to use in comparison.

Very poorly and without much thought to it. At least, that's how I did it back when I posted there. This place is wonderfully arranged compared to that, although I miss the nested spoilers.

Nested spoilers do seem pretty nifty. I remember being quite sad when I discovered that Bay12 doesn't support them :[
