Possibly only certain customers can access the Weaponsmith's Guild, which basically acts as a wholesaler. Dervish is open to the public and marks up the price because most people (people not on orders from the local lord, in other words) can't get a better deal.

I dunno, that strikes me as a bad business strategy. Guild implies that they're in several places to me, and that they got more supplies and access to supplies than places like Dervish or the Singing Spear. If they sell to a specific clientele, well, why? They'd have to have been promised something lucrative in exchange to make up for the loss of a majority of sales, unless membership isn't too difficult. In which case why bother?

Really, the only way I can see Dervish, Singing Spear, and Weaponsmith Guild living together is if they're selling entirely different stock. ...Which of course makes me wonder why the Guild doesn't just make those weapons and undercut those two, then tidy up with a clear cut monopoly. They're a guild after all, that's rather par the course.

Best way I can see it is that they're sanctioned either to a specific clientele in the town in order to do business there, or they're only allowed to sell specific items in town so as to preserve other local businesses. Or they're new, which is also a possibility, haven't had time to set roots and start uprooting other places.

Nah, they just get cheap steel from Kretos, but don't have anything fancy. That's why their steel stuff is so cheap.

Dervish/Singing Spear, on other hand, doesn't have cheap steel supply but has few friendly enchanters and such.

Hm, yeah that would do it pretty nicely. I bet both businesses are trying to get the advantages of the other to get an edge. Not really sure who'd have the easier time of it though, one can pay enchanters but one can ship steel from Kretos I imagine. They're both probably expensive however.

I'm not! At least not yet.

Besides, I doubted these kinds of operations would be standard. It was mostly just an idle query than anything, especially granted that our place as a mercenary faction isn't fully concrete. Really, there would be no point for a swordsmith to be creating weapons for a no-name sellsword who is liable to die while the sword is being forged.

I'm here, I'm just really slow at updating my game. Doesn't help that I've lost my rhythm, after not updating it for four days. I promise a post later, but right now I gotta focus on the update. Sorry.
