Look on the bright side. If any of your dwarves' body parts are exposed enough for the bloodsucking attack to hit, they'll probably get bitten off before any draining can happen.

i assumed it was the kind without powers, so i just killed it. it didn't get a chance to hit me so i don't know what it does.

if it is vampiric, why isn't it on the wiki already?

has anyone else got this description before?

I assume it's not on wiki because it's so rare and unusual, it's not likely to happen in course of normal worldgen. Megabeasts don't have bloodsucking and werecreatures can't acquire vampirism, so I assume it doesn't get noticed in majority of games, and even if it was, it's non-issue because of hostility.

I'm pretty much guessing it's a vampire or bloodsucking tag because I can't think of anything else that could do it. So I could be wrong, but it'd be a pretty good guess

Is it possible this blood-sucking thing is only included in the description due to the type of animal it is based from? There are mites that suck blood.

I've had this a couple times before. Curiously, it only seems to appear on organic fb's. I think that it is merely an option to make some fb's have no special power. I could very well be wrong though. You should check legends mode and see if it was ever cursed.

I had a dwarf lose some blood to one of those guys once; it's definitely a vampiric attack. The dwarf was fine. Then he got kicked in the head and died.

I would like to point out that the FB is a giant mite, so it drinking blood isn't particularly unusual.

I remember the hillarious event of the swarms of giant mosquitos at a previous release. One bit off the head of a dwarf, another started to suck blood out of the neck...

I had a clear glass bloodsucker once, so no.

AFAIK, it means that should the beast bite someone (or something) there is a chance it will suck blood out of the wound. It's not an exceptionally powerful ability; I guess it might speed up death to blood loss. Vampirism almost certainly has nothing to do with that.

Did anyone ever have a spider FB with anything else than poisonous bite listed in the decription?
