“You kids stay here. I’ll go scout ahead.” Jim said as he slowly opened the door. The lightly rusted hinges squeeked distinctly in the silence of the streets. Just a week ago there were hundreds of thousands in this city. Jim wondered just how many were left.

Walking forward he took care to not move too fast. The flashlight mounted at the end of his shotgun went unused as he noted a decent number of crashed cars and burning trucks. One in particular vexed Jim. It was large and grey and on its side. “Damn…” Jim said as he readied himself to tell the others that they’d have to find another way around.

That is, he would have if a few zombies hadn’t stumbled out from a side passage.

Back in the saferoom the others were taking turns tending to their injuries. The weaponry didn’t interest them quite as much. After all, these guns had protected them for so long. You don’t toss aside an old friend like that.

“So… Is everyone okay?” Ali asked as she pulled a long sliver of metal from her leg. That pipe-bomb earlier was her own… How had she been so foolish as to stand right next to it?

“I’m fine now. Though these pistols are in pretty bad shape.” Melody examined the guns she had been carrying. The slide on one was far too loose for her liking and the second had trouble changing clips for some reason. If they had more time she might have examined them in detail to find out why. For now though she had a different plan. Picking up a bat labeled “SCOUT INC.” she swung it a few times. Definitely heavy enough to dent some skulls.

Jeffrey watched with a smile. He preferred guns but he could tell that this young woman was more of an up close and personal type. In conventional warfare this was foolish but… The zombies didn’t adhere to any other convention so why this one?

I generally ended up opening both spoilers to keep track of things, I like it!

However, Jeffrey might as well adhere to a few combat conventions as himself, such as covering his allies. And so he made his way onto onto the nearest car, which should give a good vantage point from which to defend Jim

To AS9, crouch, covering fire; do not hit allies, do not bother to shoot anything if my allies have taken care of it all or enough of them have overwatched/covering fired to be able to do so.
