“This… Wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought…” Melody mused as she sent another barrage of pistol bullets towards the approaching infected.

At first she thought things would happen thusly: Damon would shoot the Charger a few times, miss, get charged over towards the group. Then, the group would shoot the Charger dead and do their best to protect their incapacitated team-mate from the onslaught of infected.

Instead, however, Damon simply began back-peddling and fired once at the Charger. The explosive rounds in his gun reduced the Charger to a puddle of goo. Then, when the Infected started scaling the wall behind her, Ugly Jim blasted most of them to oblivion before they could even recover from their landing.

“You know, these shotguns really make this easy!” Melody said with a smile as she watched two riot infected catch fire thanks to Jeffrey’s M16.

“I’m not gonna complain about that!” Ugly Jim said as he attempted, in vain, to get a good shot on some infected behind a truck.

“I’m not complaining either, I just sorta thought this would be more difficult.”

“Well… They go down easy but they pack a punch. Plus most of us are dying… Or will die without a health kit… I hope Mark’s doing okay.”

“Hahahaha! Good shot Jim!” Melody shouted as she saw the shower of gore sprout from the infected.

Ugly Jim however was much less enthusiastic. Every single one of the dozens of people he had killed had families… A life, a goal, dreams and just… Jim was starting to think maybe he was losing his eagerness to get through this. Maybe it would have been better if he had been infected early on. He knew that making it through this was just the first step.

After their rescue, Ugly Jim mused as he pulled the trigger again and sent two more infected to the grave, there would be the reclamation effort. Armies would be raised, supplies gathered, governments reinstated. Escaping was probably the easy part honestly. Rebuilding society would take a lot more.

“Come on Jim! If you don’t keep up I’ll outpace ya!” Melody laughed as she kicked a nearby infected into the large semi truck the group was using as a small base. Ugly Jim watched as she pinned the stunned infected to the ground before gleefully shooting it.

“Is that really necessary?” Ugly Jim asked. He wasn’t too comfortable with her bloodlust.

“We have to kill them anyways right?”

“Yes, but-“

“So why not be a badass about it? The people they were are gone. This would be no different than if I was shooting a car or something right? They have no thoughts, no feelings, and no remorse. They’d kill us just as easily if they could.”

Ugly Jim couldn’t help but chuckle at that “They would, but they’re sick. We can’t torture th-“

“Torture?” Melody seemed offended despite the large number of infected slowly dwindling as an M16 burst took out another wave. “I’m not torturing anyone. I just kill them like a badass. They die just as quickly, I just look cooler doing it.”

“Maybe…” Ugly Jim mumbled as he lined up his next shot.

“HEY!” Damon’s voice came from the other side of the truck “HOW ABOUT YOU LOOK COOL SAVING ME!?”

“Don’t worry about him!” Came Mark’s voice “He’s just blind with rage… and vomit. It taste okay?”

“Jiiiiim… Make Mark stop making fun of me.” Damon whined in a joking manner just barely evading an infected’s fist.

So I’ve changed how the Common Groupings are labeled because letters are sorta hard to deal with. I’m just using numbers. It is [Number of Infected][Type][Group Numbering]

Hopefully it’s not too bad.

Also, I tried seeing if having more numerous smaller groups would allow any commons to get through… And it sorta worked. But I’m probably gonna nerf shotguns very soon. I’m thinking of giving certain infected [Tank, Witch, Riot Infected, Charger] reduced damage from shotguns as well as having Passing Through have a maximum number of passes… Thoughts?
